5.0 out of 5 stars We read it again and again
This offbeat book has become a great favorite. We routinely pack it on vacations because it's lightweight and because we can read it several times in succession without boring anyone. It's also a good bedtime book when you need something short. Jokes in the illustrations make them worth looking at more than once, as well. And despite the premise--that the boy is coming...

3.0 out of 5 stars A little gross
I got this book at the local library for my son and couldn't help but get sick to my stomach reading it. Even my son thought the snot part was gross. It might capture some kids attention, but it wasn't for us.

I'm not sure who enjoys this book more - me or my son. The story of the little kid who thinks he's falling apart had be laughing like a fool when I first read this in the library of the school I was working in at the time.

We've become fans of Tedd Arnold since buying this book. Parts, as well as any of the Huggly books or Arnold's Green Wilma, are sure to please your little readers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! Hilarious!, March 12, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Parts (Picture Puffins) (Paperback)
I bought this book not really knowing what to expect. I love it! My husband, on the onter hand, doesn't think he wants to read it to our daughter. She is too young for the book now, at 1 year old. It really addresses things that children tend to concern themselves with at one time or another -- in a very comical way! I thought it was great! I showed it to my mother (a second grade teacher) and she thought it was wonderful as well. She told my husband to "just wait!" Children can worry about the strangest things. If nothing else, buy it for yourself and get a good belly laugh!

5.0 out of 5 stars A 5 star book for young children!, July 17, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Parts (Hardcover)
"Parts" by Tedd Arnold is a hilarious book for young children. My son received it as a gift from his kindergarten teacher. It was perfect timing as he was starting to loose his teeth. It's the story of a young boy, who upon loosing his teeth, among other things, thinks that he is falling apart! We just laughed and laughed over this book and read it again and again. I even buy it as a birthday present for all my nieces and nephews for their fifth birthday!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely hilarious and fun!, May 29, 2007
This review is from: Parts (Picture Puffins) (Paperback)
My 2-year-old daughter loves this book so much that she keeps bringing it to me and simply says "Parts". This is a pretty gross book in a sense of the stuff this poor kid imagines is happening to him [he thinks he is coming apart through various bodily emissions/functions], like losing a tooth, lint in the bellybutton, you get the idea. Reading the other reviews, the consensus seems to be that kids love this book, and I guess Tedd Arnold deserves kudos for being able to tap into what appeals to kids and turning out a winning book. The illustrations are simple, yet cute despite the gross factor. The text doesn't exactly follow rhyming conventions but it works, and has a sing-songy flow to it. The fact that my little one loves it makes it a winner in my book too!

5.0 out of 5 stars For 5 and Up, April 23, 2006
This review is from: Parts (Picture Puffins) (Paperback)
This book is hilarious! Ted Arnold is a brilliant storyteller-both with words and images. I bought this book for my 2 year old nephew and highly recommend you DON'T read it to a child that age. It freaked him out. I have, however, observed older children reading this book with pleasure. Follow the age recommendation given with the book and the reader will enjoy learning about the body and the humor shared with the protagonist.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my all time favorites!!, November 24, 2005
This review is from: Parts (Picture Puffins) (Paperback)
I bought this book years ago for my daughter when she was about 4 years old. I have since bought the subsequent ones. I absolutely love this book. I think it is hilarious and makes you think about different sayings we've all grown up with, in a way a child might think. The illustrations are wonderful & colorful! I love these books so much, I've already debated about buying the set for each of my kids to give to their kids!! You will enjoy it!

I love the pictures and humor in this book. My son and I laugh and laugh when we read it! And it has helped him to learn a little about his body and its parts. There are so many funny details in the drawings.
