Once again, Christopher Pike brings us into a world in which a roomful of attractive high schoolers have to figure out who among them is the murderer.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is the second best book I've ever read!!!, November 22, 2000
Your best friend is dead, lying in a puddle of blood, with a gun in her hand pointed in her mouth. Right away most people speculated that she killed herself, but maybe somehow, someone else killed her? I found reading about how these characters dealt with this situation in the book Final Friends; Book 1: The Party by Christopher Pike was very interesting and suspenseful. The only thing that I didn't find interesting was the cover of the book, but you can't always judge a book by it's cover. The book cover definitely did not entice me to read the book. The cover looks like something from many years ago and looks boring. The people in the picture look like they are back in the 70's with some of the clothes they are wearing. The part that did catch my eye on the cover though was really small and said; "It was their last year of school... Maybe the last year of their lives." This caught my eye because this is my last year of school too, but I'm pretty sure not my last year of my life. I thought I'd relate to the book well since the characters are in the same grade as I. I was right, I did relate to the characters very well like Jessica Hart, who is a really nice friend, but she's into the popularity trip. Polly and Alice, who are sisters, have no parents and both like/liked the same weird guy. Sarah, who's somehow elected as president and also likes Russ a track member. Some of the other characters portrayed are smart, athletic, and way more into being popular than Jessica. These are the usual kind of people found in any high school. The summary on the back of the book also made me choose to read this book. The summary was very interesting and attention getting because what the author said related somewhat to my life. Choosing a character in this book is pretty hard because I wouldn't want to go through the tragedy most of the characters did. Otherwise, I would want to be like Jessica Hart. I know I said before she is mostly into being the popular one, but I think deep down inside she's a really nice person. Especially how she helped out Alice when her sister was in the hospital and her parents were dead. Or how she became friends with Maria, who's from El Salvador, and helped her out on her date with Nick. Being a nice person is something I really like about people and how I want to be known as. The only characteristic I don't really like about her right now is how she plays Mike, the brilliant but shy guy. She and he would make a great couple, instead of she and Bill Skater, the handsome quarterback. She leads Mike on then dumps him whenever she feels she has a chance with Bill. This is so selfish of her, but I think by the end of the 3rd final friends they'll be together. Overall, I enjoyed every word of this book. I connected to this book very well besides enjoying the part where someone died at the party. Well, I definitely would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about high school life with a bit of suspense and thriller. Another great aspect about this book is the author wrote series, so the story doesn't just end leaving everyone wondering what happens next. I'm part way through the second book, and I'm enjoying the story as much as the first one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Decent young adult thriller, February 23, 2005
Once again, Christopher Pike brings us into a world in which a roomful of attractive high schoolers have to figure out who among them is the murderer.

At over 200 pages, this is a thicker book than most of what Pike writes, and that's probably because he's building a cast of characters to take us through a trilogy. As a stand-alone novel, though, the extra length isn't justified in supporting the formulaic plot.

Not to say that this is a bad book; Pike does a good job of adapting the modern thriller and romance genres to a young teen audience in the same way that a slate of WB tv shows have mastered that sleek package.

If you like Pike, you'll probably find this trilogy as good as his other novels. If you don't, this one won't change your mind any. If you're about to give this author your attention for the first time, I would recommend Chain Letter, which is a much better example of how good he can be.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book was thrilling!, May 31, 1998

I have read the first book of the Final Friends trilogy (The Party) and it was brilliant. I can't wait until I read the other two in the series. It is awful not knowing who the killer is but I think Christopher Pike writes his books really well. I would recommend this book who likes mystery, horror and suspense. The charachters were very well portrayed, Micheal, Nick and Jessica were my favourite charachters. Polly was cool too and I liked Sara although she was cruel to Polly. Overall I really enjoyed it!

This book was wonderfully written! I am a good fan of Christopher Pike's work. My favorite trilogy is still the Remember Me series. This one wasn't as good but I was still wonderfully written! I recommend this one but you have to make sure to read the other two books that follow it! It get's better and better!

All I have to say is this is a brilliant book - great mystery.

I love Sara. I'm actually a lot like her - we have similiar personalities so I guess that's why I like her so much.

I read every book in the Final Friends trilogy. It was great! With every turn of a page, something new happened that would change everything you had suspected to be real. Pike's a wonderful author. I really enjoy reading anything he writes. His characters are easy to relate to. If you like a good mystery I'd highly recommend you read this series. I'm going to read his Remember Me trilogy next. I hope they will be as good and as well thought out as Final Friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK WAS SO REAL!, April 30, 1999
By A Customer
I have read lots of books that TRY to protray life, but some how it doesn't work. This book did though. The author made some real characters instead of phony ones and mixed them into a situation of whodunit. I thought this book was so excellent and I recommend it to anyone who is wanting a good (REAL GOOD) read. I thought all of the characters were made out to be real people and I appriciate the author for finally protraying life as a teenager. Need I say more?

5.0 out of 5 stars I would have to say this is a good book, April 3, 1999
By A Customer
At first when I started reading it. I thought it was going to be a boring book but then it got better. The best part of the book was at the end when Jessica, Sara, Polly, and Polly's younger sister decide to have a party. And it all ends up being that at the party people that weren't invited showed up and one of them died. I'll let you figure that out.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book kiked seriousy a$$, Better than Steve king's, May 16, 1998
By A Customer
I loved this book it was so very awseom i could read it a thousand times. I love how Mr. Pike puts you in suspense with the last chapters and all. I have read all three in this exciting trioligy and i've thinked it was all much better than any book i have read bye steven king. My recomendations is that every teenager should own this horrifying, exciting, perplexing trioligy. My favorie book out of this set of three had to be the first one written because of how it introduced all the characters with stamana. The quick and inteelegent Micheal Olson. The Prettey and Intriging Jessica heart. Alice McCoy sweet and cut as a button. Clark very strange, swift and sly. Bubba the mal shovenist pig. Sarah Cantrell a girl with attitude. Russ Desmond and all around cool personality. Kats the dirty scoundrel. And Good old Polly McCoy who i think is the best character. I love Polly's attitude towards everything and why she is so optimistic and pesimistic at the same time. POLLY IS DEFINITLEY MY FAVORITE CHARACTER! But lets not forget the strong Nick Gutler. Also i find it very amazing how Jessica spends most of her year chasing after Bill Skater and then finds out he's gay. AHH and MAria Gonzales who is very shy but yet skillfull and cunning. The Rock who is a Mike tyson wanna be. And lets not forget the beautiful Claire Hillery. And even the suporting characters are great. THIS IS DEFINITLEY A TRIOLIGY OF BOOKS EVERY TEEN SHOULD HAVE EVEN IF YOU HATE READING. mY REVIEW IS DEFINETLT THAT CHRISTOPHER PIKE IS ONE OF THE BEST AUTHORS AROUND TODAY EVEN BETTER THAN STEVEN KING!!!!!!!!!!!!
