Its a "must-have" read for the unofficially-obsessed fan., January 1, 1998

If you spend every Wednesday night with a box of tissues and the usually unlucky Salinger family, then this is the book for you. When I first heard about this book, I was hesitant but curious as to what MORE I could actually learn about the show, the actors, etc. But after doing a quick sneak-peek at the local book store, I realized that I had to have this book. Its chock full of inside goodies about the show, fun behind-the-scenes stuff, trivia (which only the truly-devoted could attempt to answer) and complete episode summaries from the first season to last season's finale. One of the most enjoyable surprises for me was in reading the highlights/notes section at the end of each episode summary to find little tidbits of things we'd probably never know. Like the fact that co-creator Amy Lippman is married to one of POF's directors, Rodman Flenders. Or the most embarrassing moments for some of the cast (for instance when actress Lacey Chabert read that her character was supposed to get her period). Imagine the horror in having to act that out! Author Brenda Scott Royce writes in a friendly, free-flowing style and lets the reader into the exclusive fan club of those fortunate enough to have visited the set and met the hard-working, creative cast and crew who bring this show to light each and every week. Great fun and a gotta have if you live and love the Salingers.

It's okay, kind of., August 4, 1998

Pro's: It was interesting to read about the actors and their were plenty of interesting photos. I like reading the comments from the actors on certain episodes. Cons: The episode guide was good, but it was something I could care less about. I wanted to see more behind the scenes facts and this book gave me what I already knew. Also the quiz at the end was impossible. I've been watching the show since it started, and the questions are based on details that are impossible for even me to remember and the only way you'd remember them is if you taped each episode and/or took notes from each episode. I read what the other people said about the book and thought it would be great, instead it was a dissappointment. Over all: Don't get this book unless you are a NEW fan and don't know anything. Also don't even try the quiz!

An entertaining read!, December 8, 1997

I have read a few TV companion books in my time and this is one I couldn't put down; and I am not even a fan of the show. The author presents her information in an interesting and easy-to-relate manner. Some of the tidbits that she provides are great, like Matthew Fox being voted "Most Likely to Appear on HeeHaw" in high school or the adorable Scott Wolf being turned down for a part in "Baywatch". I found it to be humorous; I even found myself staying up a half-hour late to finish reading a certain chapter. I have now started to watch the show, thanks to this book.

Party of Five is a great show and when I found out about this book I had to get it. I received the book today and I'm already done reading it! The information in this book is incredible. The episode guide, web site reviews, and character profiles are the best. Any fan of Party of Five or anyone for that matter should pick up this book.
