4.0 out of 5 stars Long forgotten mid-'80s speed metal, April 26, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Party With God (Audio CD)
I'm glad this got a CD release. I've had a worn vinyl copy for years and can now retire it.

Recorded in April of 1986, "Party With God" is pretty typical speed metal for its period. I am reminded of the works of that time of Sacrifice and Dark Angel but with a heavy California drawl on the vocalist. There is a hint of D.R.I.-like hardcore punk influence too. Originally just known as Sacrilege, the band added the "B.C." (which stands for their home of Berkeley, California) to avoid confusion with an English crust-core band of the same name.

This digipak reissue on November Fire is a pretty good reproduction of the original Alchemy Records LP. The back still shows the band members in the foreground, the floor littered with used beer cans from an especially hard night of partying. Also included is all original LP artwork, lyrics and a band member-written retrospective.

This sounds a little dated at times but is fast energetic speed metal throughout and will bring back a lot of memories for fans of this period, and judging by the resurgence in thrash of late, there are a lot of you out there. Youthful and fun stuff here.
