Fun, but a workout for the arms,

We received this game for Christmas (it requires nunchucks). It reminds me a little of Rayman Raving Rabbids, in that the events use various items (a pitchfork for a javelin and bucket for the hammer throw). It's a fun game and well-executed. My only complaint is that many of the events require you to run or swim by quickly and repeatedly moving your arms up and down--my arms were very tired when we stopped yesterday and they're stiff today from playing it!

Well I wouldn't give it five stars, but it is mildly entertaining,

I decided to pick this game up over christmas on the gamestop buy 2 get one free sale. Found a bunch of $8.99 games and got them for about $6.50 each with tax. I still feel like we waisted our money. Yes, its entertaining. Yes it plays four players. Yes it has quite a few games. Problems...must have four remotes for four to play all games. When you are swimming or running, if you are behind you can't see yourself (screen is only of person in the lead and a little more to the back and front). Graphics are weak. Don't waste your money. I know its cheap, but it won't get the use that Wii Sports and Wii Fit Plus get. Wish I would have saved the money and bought Wii sports resort.

We just got this game and tried it out for the first time. To start, the only event unlocked is the 100m sprint. The other reviewer mentioned that this game is a real workout for the arms, and she wasn't kidding! To make the pig run, you need to move the nunchuck and wiimote the way you pump your arms while jogging. And of course, the faster you make these movements, the faster the pig runs. This really gets your heart rate up quickly and keeps it there. The controls are very simple (so far anyway, we only have a couple of events unlocked) so anyone can play, but it is also a good addition to a workout. You really break a sweat playing this game--we were both huffing and puffing after only a couple of races, but the entertainment value of the game, plus the competitive spirit to try to get the best score, kept us playing longer than if we were just doing exercise reps. The graphics are decent--not amazingly realistic or up to the level of detail current games are putting forth, but so what? The look is a cartoon-ish stylized theme and that works just fine. It is colorful enough to keep smaller kids interested, and clean enough for older folks to follow along. Paired with the very simple and responsive controls, this game is a winner. Can't wait to unlock the other events--but just for the race and the javelin toss alone, we are pleased. |
