Christobel Kent is an English author. I accidently purchased one of her mysteries while in Europe and since then have purchased and read all three of her books..the other two are: "The Summer House" and "Late Season". She has a 2006 book which is yet to be available. Her books have a lot of description of charactors and details of location. I highly recommend reading her books.

I enjoyed this book. It is well written and since I have been to Florence I enjoyed the author's knowledge of the city and descriptive references to places I'd visited. The characters are interesting, as is the story-line. At the beginning there are rather of lot of people to keep up with (occasionally I found myself having to go back to remind myself who was who), but as the story progressed I came to appreciate how they interacted and gradually wove together. It is a well planned first novel and a good murder mystery that kept me guessing to the end.
