4.0 out of 5 stars Dance Party 2001
This CD offers some of the best techno-dance music available. I was a little disappointed in the some of the selections for this collection however. There were too many songs that contained lyrics that ruined the beat and rythem of the song. It would have been nice to see it be pure music. If you like to techno you will love certain tracks such as Darube's...

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much talk, too disco
I was looking forward to this based on the reviews, but be warned that most tracks are lyric-heavy and very disco. Eartha Kitt's "Where Is My Man" is pretty cool. "Sandstorm" is great, though you're probably sick of it if you listen to grooveradio.com. Should have gone with my gut instinct and not bought an album named "Party Time".

2.0 out of 5 stars What's the rave about?, October 30, 2001
This review is from: Party Time 2001 (Audio CD)
I was looking forward to this cd huge cause of all the rave and comericails i heard for it. It came down to a big disapointment when i played it. TOO MANY LYRICS, NOT ENOUGH FLOW! That's what it all comes down to. If you bought all the other cd's that you want then go ahead if not i know there is better stuff out there.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't judge a CD by its cover, April 19, 2001

At first glance, a dance fanatic would jump nearly two buildings high. Just take a close look: you have several smash club hits by artists such as Darude, ATB, DJ Jurgen, Vengaboys, Love Bite, etc. Based on your own personal judgement, you'd probably say to yourself, "how could I go wrong? This CD is full of great tunes. And there's more songs on here that I HAVEN'T heard that are most probably just as good, if not better."

Well, my advice to you is not to judge a CD by its cover. Sure, that bright green cover is pretty eye-catching, and SANDSTORM is on there, but asides from all that, this CD is horribly mixed and contains no flow. DJ-mixed albums pride themselves on making tracks flow together in order to keep the beat moving. However, the song selection and order they are played on this album is so terrible that it's apparent "Party Time 2001" is CHEESE spewed forth with the sole purpose of selling itself to the most gullible of consumers.

Need I say more? This double-disc set deserves a pitiful one star rating. Beware of all future Groovilicious releases. (...)

This is the perfect cd for the party events or your average club hopper. Wether you listen it to your car or your home stereo it will win your grove and move your beat into the next millenium.

4.0 out of 5 stars What?! Is it really that bad? I don't think so., February 7, 2002

In the beginning, I was not much of a techno fanatic until recently, when I went to a nightclub for the first time. There, I saw hundreds of dancers on the dance floor, dancing to this stuff. So, I joined in, had more fun than I have had in a long time, and the rest is history.

Anyway, I bought this CD based on the fact that I was gradually learning to like the Party Time 2002 compilation I had bought a few months earlier. At first, I thought this album was quite a waste of my money because the songs became boring and even annoying at times, so I pretty much shelved the album. Then, after my first nightclub visit, I listened to the compilation a second time, and I discovered that many of the songs on the album were the same songs that the DJ played at the nightclub I went to. I actually wanted to start dancing when I heared the compilation a second time.

As some of the earlier reviews say, some of the songs do not fit together very well. For example, I still feel that "Pure Aviation" and "Purgatory" weaken the mood. These two songs seem like 12th or 15th century church hymns accompanied by techno instruments. At one point, the solid bass beat disappears for quite a while, and all that is left is chanting. Eventually, the beat comes back, but by that time, I would have already lost interest in the song. Of course, Escape follows up with ATB, DJ Jurgen, and Darude; and when he does, the energy emerges once again. Still, I find myself pressing the skip button once I get to those two songs.

Disregarding those songs, this compilation really bangs. I especially like the song, "You See The Trouble With Me". The blending of the disco style with the techno style really makes this song an exciting one. I also like "Above The Clouds", "Higher & Higher", "Bang", & "Take Your Time". Escape also includes "Sandstorm" and "Stomp To My Beat" -- both really popular dance grooves. Being a DJ myself, and knowing how difficult the job can be, I must commend DJ Escape for his efforts. Overall, this album is quite entertaining.

Even though some of the songs do not go with the mood very well, this compilation contains lots of energy within it. I am sure that people who are nightclub regulars will enjoy it very much. However, I would not recommend this to anyone who has never heared techno before. Before they buy this album, I would recommend that they attend a nightclub party first. After all, when an open-minded person is surrounded by a bunch of "party animals" who are losing their minds over music like this, how could he or she not enjoy it?

this cd is really tight and has been practically the only cd i've been listening to since i got it. its got songs that club hoppers and ravers will like.. many of the songs are lyrical and will appeal to those that like more club stuff. disk 2 is my favorite and has stuff that me and my girls like to groove to.
