For those who left their countries, and for those who are willing to remember, May 7, 2008
This review is from: Con Pasión Absoluta. (Paperback)
I have just finished reading the book. This book was awarded with the Mario Monteforte Toledo Award in the year 2004. It narrates the story of Irene, a Guatemalan girl who lived during the second half of the 20th. century in Guatemala and then left the country heading to Vancouver. Now, she is back and ready to reconcile with her past.
The novel tells a story she (Irene) hasn't forget. We get to learn about her mother, her aunt, her grandmother and her great grandmother in an exquisite narration of the life of a matriarchal family. Now, someone is sick and she is also home sick. A great book that will take you in the history and life of a middle class family of a Latin American country.
