4.0 out of 5 stars Forget the ammo, pass the laughs.
An early Bill Paxton move that is on my list of movies I never saw enough of. Tim Curry's rendition of the televangelist who's name escapes me is classic (it is my favorite Curry role).

3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun!
I've seen this film about 8 times & it's lots of fun to watch with people with a sense of humor to match my own.

4.0 out of 5 stars Holy Hilarity!, March 4, 2000

I first saw "Pass the Ammo" in the late 80's, and felt that they needed to establish up front that Claire's grandmother lost $$ at the Tower of Bethlehem. Then last week my ex brought me a copy of it and I watched it again. This time, I loved it three times as much! There are loads of "lessons" here, from the quote by Anthony Geary (Stonewall): "It doesn't matter where you're at on the outside. What counts is where you are on the inside." I think the movie is well done, and to see a British actor (Curry) doing an Arkansas accent was priceless. I don't like the line about what they're going to do to the preacher on national TV. Aside from this, this movie needs to have a wide distribution!

TWO QUESTIONS: Who "shot" Jesse and Claire, and Where can I buy the soundtrack?

This is great fun with good performances from the four lead actors. Screenplay was superb - especially the line from the newsreader regarding the 'crack of dawn' - priceless!! Ignore the whining moralists and watch this movie. When is it to be released on DVD??? This movie really needs the widescreen DVD treatment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique movie with an eclectic charm..., February 9, 2000

PASS THE AMMO was released at a perfect time! Right around the time of the Tammy Faye Bakker conflict. It's about, basically, the same matter.

Scheming Reverend Ray Porter and his ever-faithful wife run a Television Evangalism Ministry. Ray's making millions for his own enjoyment while his ministry is nothing more than a cult-like broadway show. One of his followers and her boyfriend and cousins decide they want their donated money back.

PASS THE AMMO is full of laughs from beginning to end, but lacks pace in all-too-many places.

Tim Curry was wonderful as Rev. Ray. Annie Potts was absolutely halarious as his wife. Linda Kozlowski and Bill Paxton were also acceptable as their followers with a little mission of their own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious! Leonard Maltin needs a chill pill., December 18, 1999

I had seen the Rocky Horror Picture show, which made me a Tim Curry fan.... this was a Tour de Force for Tim, showing that he can take other roles and distance himself, chameleon-like, from previous roles. Too bad the timing of the Jim Bakker scandal relevated this to direct to video: I think it would have been a hoot to see in a theater.

As per the title of this review, Leonard Maltin needs a chill pill. I don't think he saw the same movie I did.

I love this movie!!! Although it is not available to buy got to you local video store and rent this. Tim Curry as Rev. Ray Porter is wonderful. The "I can feel the Devil behind me" scene with Curry is not to missed. Also Annie Potts is very funny in this. I highly recommend this movie!!!

Mitch wasn't a person who laughed aloud. So when I heard him laughing aloud when I walked up on his porch I knew I wanted to see whatever movie was on. Come to find out he'd been watching it over and over for hours!! And now that I've seen it myself at least twenty times - all I can say is if you haven't seen this movie, you haven't seen one of the funniest movies ever made. I believe this is the way God sees all bad guys, the crooks and the crooked ministers alike, with compassion and humor. You've never met such a mess of wonderful and lovable bad guys in your whole life. :) Have a moonpie and enjoy the greatest little movie from the past you've never seen before. :))

Success is achieving and perhaps surpassing your goals. The goals of movies are entertain, entertain, entertain. This movie entertains to the max, which makes it successful. Anyone can dig into anything deep enough to find faults. Pass the Ammo, will, make you laugh to tears unless of course you forget its purpose, to make you feel good after a good laugh. It's a gem!

I just can't say just how very much I like this movie. Recently purchased on auction I keep watching this one over and over again. I don't want to give away all the details but the Reverend Ray Porter (Tim Curry) and his wife Darla (Annie Potts) operate a TV ministry getting rich off of their viewers. Bill Paxton enters the scene to recover his girlfriend's (Linda Kozlowski) $50,000. The spectacular ending is just not to be believed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful comedy - Curry is great, Annie Potts is too., February 19, 1999

In this spoof of televangalists Tim Curry is quite fun, and Annie Potts, as his long suffering wife is at her best. Kind of sappy at points but a great romp. Also, good sound track.
