4.0 out of 5 stars Strong and reliable.
I dont think i can "love" this product. It's just a retrofit brace and box, but it worked REALLY well, is super strong, and was fairly easy to install (my oversized hands aside). If i need another one, it will come from here..... not gonna spend $30+ at the local hardware store.

1.0 out of 5 stars Super lousy fan brace
I got a Reiker Model 22200 for free & that was too expensive! I wish I had known how poorly designed it is before I had committed to install it - I would have gladly paid double for the Raco Model VQFH that I used on my next installation. The key difference is that the Raco uses carriage bolts to secure the box to the brace, so you can get them REALLY TIGHT like they...

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly What We Needed, August 14, 2011

This review is from: Pass & Seymour 22200 Retrofit Reiker Fan Brace with 25-Cubic-Inch Electrical Box (Tools & Home Improvement)
The Pass & Seymour 22200 Retrofit Reiker Fan Brace with 25-Cubic-inch Electrical Box was exactly what we needed. We recently moved into a brand new home and were told by the builder that our master bed room was braced and ready for a ceiling fan if we decided we wanted one later on. My husband decided after about 3 months that it was too warm in our bedroom at night so we bought a ceiling fan, took down the fixture and what should we find. Absolutely nothing. The electrical box wasn't even rated for ceiling fans. So I began looking for a retrofit kit and when I found this one I crossed my fingers and ordered it. My husband was afraid we were not going to be able to get the support brace up through the existing hole but it did with no problem and within 30 minutes we had a ceiling fan installed and ready to use. The screws to attach the ceiling fan to the electrical box were to short for our application but we realized this before and went to the local hardware store to get longer ones. Other than that this was one of my best purchases.

1.0 out of 5 stars Super lousy fan brace, July 4, 2011
This review is from: Pass & Seymour 22200 Retrofit Reiker Fan Brace with 25-Cubic-Inch Electrical Box (Tools & Home Improvement)
I got a Reiker Model 22200 for free & that was too expensive! I wish I had known how poorly designed it is before I had committed to install it - I would have gladly paid double for the Raco Model VQFH that I used on my next installation. The key difference is that the Raco uses carriage bolts to secure the box to the brace, so you can get them REALLY TIGHT like they should be when you are suspending anything overhead, while the 22200 just used regular bolts with lockwashers - which spin when they are tightened very much. Fortunately I was able to get into the attic to re-tighten the bolts from above - but that may not always be possible & the alternative will be to start over - or trash it & go get the good one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavy Ceiling Fan?, July 2, 2011

This review is from: Pass & Seymour 22200 Retrofit Reiker Fan Brace with 25-Cubic-Inch Electrical Box (Tools & Home Improvement)
This brace had some good reviews and I needed one to replace a very simple brace that was holding a light fixture. I was replacing the light fixture with a ceiling fan. Please do your homework before purchasing in terms of what it will take to use this product. Placing this in your ceiling can get "involved."

For those that already know the job then this product provides a very good solution to those needing a ceiling brace that will support a ceiling fan.

The brace's center bar rotates and the brace will then extend or contract to fit the span ceiling joists. Once the brace extends out to both ceiling joists then one can place a wrench on the center bar to tighten it in place. The points that you see on the ends of the brace will indeed set into the wooden joists and the product will then become a solid part of your joist system. A ceiling fan hanging from this brace will be stable and will not rock. The ceiling fan will not move and will perform as silently as the product that you have purchased. Well recommended product.
