This review is from: Passacaglia for Orchestra (Paperback)
For the most part Dover reproductions are outstanding not only 'per se' but also of the editions they choose for the purpose!! This one (apparently from an initial Universal-Edition publication - that publisher was the main one for Berg, von Webern and - for a long time - their teacher Schönberg) is no exception (though I wish a different font was used for the instrumental and expression designations - still it's not a big deal...)!!

This is a lovely piece: dissonant, maybe not the strongest in terms of being tonal - one can already see the atonality creeping in - but still VERY listenable and also a masterpiece of composition (orchestration, harmony, counterpoint, etc.)! It's worth making every effort to get, even if it happens to have to be 2nd-hand. GET IT if you possibly can!!!
