5.0 out of 5 stars The Passage -- Boy Hits Car
The album is a melodic adventure! You've got your folkie 12 String. You've got your rockin' metal guitar and bass. You've got your tender ballads with beautiful harmonies. But wait..., you've also got your heartfelt growls. Just as the liner notes suggest, put the CD in and push play. Start with the first song and begin your journey to the passage. Experience...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth The Wait
I really like Boyhitscar, but this album really just bombed for me. The songs all kind of sound the same and it gets really frustrating listening to him sing about lost-love over and over again. I'd pass on this one, but check out their previous stuff for sure.

Experience everything great music has to offer. Put it this way, I have a 10 disk changer that hasn't moved for 3 weeks (I'm not just saying that either). Boy Hits Car's new CD, The Passage has a sound set apart from the current Top 40 Alternative Albums. Not only that, but they are a force to be reckoned with on stage. Their live show is inspiring and the musicians are fantastic to their fans. CRegg and Lou put up no fronts..., they are the real deal. Their music is real. Buy the album!

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is a perfect example of why Iove music., April 16, 2006

I got this CD in June of last year, a couple weeks after the band released it independently on their website. The only reason I ordered it a few weeks after it came out was because I didn't check their website for awhile. The second I saw it was ready to order, I ordered it. When "As Day Fades..." started, I had goosebumps. I was worried I wouldn't like it because I had been waiting for this CD for roughly 5 years.

I was not dissapointed at all. This is one of the best CDs I have ever heard. It's more mellow than the previous Self-Titled CD, but it's just as good, maybe a little better.

1. As Day Fades... (1:48) - An intro to the CD, the best intro I've ever heard. Very catchy. 8/10

2. Tonight (4:27) - Perfect 2nd song. Builds up to an amazing chorus. 9/10

3. Escape The World (3:17) - My 3rd favorite on the CD. Classic BHC right here. Amazing lyrics and heavy, yet relaxing music. 9.5/10

4. The Sound Of A Breaking Heart (3:18) - More classic BHC. Emotional lyrics with amazing music. 9/10

5. These Burning Memories (5:07) - Starts off slow, picks up about 15 seconds in. One of the most beautiful songs on the CD. 9/10

6. Windswept (4:19) - The first of a couple mellow ones on the CD. Great lyrics and very catchy. 8.5/10

7. Love's Subtle Scheme (3:47) - This song defines Boy Hits Car. Emotional, deep, and energetic. 9.5/10

8. Forever And A Day (3:36) - Catchy bassline to start it off, emotional lyrics. 9/10

9. Everything (3:32) - Another mellow one with amazing music and lyrics. 9/10

10. You Don't Care (3:30) - Energetic, yet mellow. 9/10

11. Beneath The Sea's Bed (5:11) - Very mellow with deep lyrics. 9.5/10

12. This Song For You (4:24) - Best song on the CD, one of the most beautiful songs I've EVER heard. 15/10

13. All the Love we Hold Inside (3:34) - Another energetic one quick. Great lyrics and catchy music. 8.5/10

14. The Passage (7:26) - The Title track is the last song on the CD, and also the longest. Great message in the song delivered with the band's deep lyrics. Slow starting off, gets heavy and catchy towards the end. 10/10

57:24 of AMAZING, energetic, deep, emotional, mellow, catchy and heavy music. Get it now and you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Love Core", August 13, 2006

The editorial review pretty much nails this album. The use of the 12 string guitar is ever present in pretty much every song, some of which can be barely heard in the background music. This album has a terriffic balance of light and heavy. I'm a fan of Hard Rock and Metal, but can still stand a good, acoustic, well written, soft song. You can find a good balance beautifully meshing soft with hard. It is this that made me a fan of Boy Hits Car with their last album (Self-Titled) and as soon as I heard about this album I bought right away. If you have a myspace account; this would be a great band to look up.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than a worthy follow up, June 27, 2006
This review is from: Passage (Audio CD)
It took five years for them to finally get this album out... and it was well worth the wait. It's definitely softer than their self-titled effort, but it's no less intense or passionate. Fans of the first album will definitely enjoy it. The Passage is also considderably more radio-friendly - and NOT in a bad way - which makes us further question why Wind-up dropped the best band they had. The sound on this album is more refined, there's a lot more use of the 12-string and vocal harmonies.

It's a great album from start to finish, a really solid effort. There is also a part two of the story from the self-titled album's jacket. My favorite tracks include "Tonight," "The Sound of a Breaking Heart," and "Beneath the Sea's Bed."

I've always enjoyed Boy Hits Car and its a crying shame that they aren't recieving more attention. I am certain that if more people heard them, most people would like it. They have a very unique and identifiable sound, both fun to listen to and reflective of talent. These guys know how to write unique music, giving us all something new and refreshing! Whether you've heard of Boy Hits Car before, or this would be your first time, chances are you will like this album a lot.

Good stuff. 9/10

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as raw as the self-titled but still rockin'!, April 12, 2006
This review is from: Passage (Audio CD)
I would have to give this cd a 4 out of 5 just based on the fact that the self-titled album was so good that its hard for this to live up to the first. The album is still very good, but a little mellower and not as raw in energy. Still awesome though, and if they play your town you'd better GO!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album from the most underrated band EVER, April 10, 2006
By

If you're reading this and you haven't ever heard of Boy Hits Car, haven't heard any of their old stuff, or haven't heard anything of this CD. BE SURE YOU DO! Boy Hits Car is hands down one of the best bands there is... It's a very unique hard rock that's hard to top. A mixture of a 12-string acoustic on top of CRegg's voice not typically heard with hard rock sets Boy Hits Car from the rest. Their energy is another dimension. You MUST see this band live. Their show is the best I've ever been to because they have energy for their own music and for their fans.

I know you're thinking, "Yeah, yeah.. They're the 'best band' live, I've heard it all the time." I'm swearing on my life, that once you see them in concert you'll walk out a fan. I've had a hard metal only kinda guy do a complete 180 after he saw them in concert, and he said "I'm not into this type of music, sorry man" before the concert. Now he's HOOKED.

His problem is that he didn't truly listen to their stuff, he just quickly sampled it. I will be willing to bet you that if you give "The Passage" 3 full listens, you'll want to listen to it a 4th and 5th time. This is your next Best CD.

My review of the songs:

1. As the Day Fades - 8/10 (Not a full song, but a perfect lead-in to Tonight)
2. Tonight - 10/10 (Kickass Intro. Definitely 'The Rebirth' of this CD. This is the song my heavy-metal only friend loves)
3. Escape the World - 10/10 (Their big radio hit, it grows on you)
4. Sound of a Breaking Heart - 10/10 (This song truly hits the nail on the head)
5. These Burning Memories - 8/10
6. Windswept - 9/10 (Great slower song from BHC, a must listen)
7. Love's Subtle Scheme - 10/10 (Hard not to sing along to once you know the lyrics, "F you if you don't believe")
8. Forever and a Day - 10/10 (Awesome song about getting cheated on, very catchy)
9. Everything - 5/10 (Personally, I was never a big fan of this song, but it's actually growing on me some. It's one of the more emotional songs of BHC, but I think I've missed the early boat on this one)
10. You Don't Care - 7/10
11. Beneath the Sea's Bed - 8/10 (Another one of the more emotional songs by BHC, has a GREAT second half of the song)
12. This Song for You - 10/10 (Put your lighters up to this one)
13. All the Love We Hold Inside - 10/10 (Hard not to nod your head to)
14. The Passage - 9/10 (Great closer for the CD in my opinion. Starts off slow, but it's BHC... They add a hard core to the heart of the song)

Definitely one of my favorites. I've had the CD since ~May of '05, wayyyyyy before the other Atlanta fans.. This CD is truly great if you actually sit down and listen to it.. I can't exactly swear that it's the same as their older stuff, but it's definitely the same Boy Hits Car. This is the more emotional side of them/CRegg, but deep down they're rooted into music you can rock out and nod or bang your head to.

5.0 out of 5 stars an emotional, hard rock performance, April 3, 2006
This review is from: Passage (Audio CD)
This album is a must for any fan. CRegg seems to be playing his 12-string more on this album. Has two slower tracks in "Everything" and "This Song for You". The rest of the album is standard BHC stuff, which is amazing. I personally like "Forever and a Day", "The Passage", "The Sound of a Breaking Heart". I like them all really.

Says it all really.

Go out and buy it. They've calmed down a bit for this album compared with the others I've heard but that's no bad thing. This hasn't been out of my CD player for over a month and I'm still not bored with it.

Buy it
