A great Thrash metal classic!, December 26, 2010
This review is from: The Passing (Audio CD)
The second effort by this band is a little bit beter production wise. The songs are technical, and lyrically challenging. There is more eery guitar harmonies and melodies that give it a sort of melancholic power metal vibe at certain points. Again it's a perfect mix of west coast thrash metal, and the best of the oldschool hardcore scene. All in all there is nothing here that didn't dissapoint me. I still have the cassette, ha!

Christian Thrash, June 9, 2007
This review is from: The Passing (Audio CD)
This album is better than the last one, though it still doesn't quite gel totally. Between the first album and this one this group got a new guitar player and drummer, and that did seem to improve things a bit. The vocals are of the hardcore style (with one song having a guest vocalist that sounds sort of like Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust). The lyrics again range from weak to condescending, though again try to tackle issues that are important to Christians. The first song is by far the best, with some catchy guitar work, and the next four aren't too bad either. But after that it goes downhill with what seems largely like filler material. It's a 45 minute CD that feels like it's an hour long. I'd recommend this album to people who were interested in Christian thrash.

Crunchy all away!!!, May 25, 2007
This review is from: The Passing (Audio CD)
This album broke my "heavy metal" boundaries at the time. Even though it`s trash and speed metal, it`s very clean and i found it enjoyable. Ackerman`s vocals are very clear, considering the kind of music he`s into, energic enough, but not scary or growling. The guitars are ok and the drums are very tight, with extremely fast double bass. The bass instead are very picky, playing sometimes like a fussion jazz into trash...it`s interesting. The spirit and attitude of this album is overwhelming. As someone said, the last title track defines it all..."FRANTIC". My favorites are "Renouncement" (nice lyrics, it speaks about a redeemed one shouting to the same evil one "I renounce your perveted ways, retribution for my pain you`ll pay, for the blood now cover me this day, you are cancelled in my life...Renouncement!" Well, there are many churches teaching their people to crush the devil under your feet), "The Usurper", "Forest of Horrors" "Ichabod" (nice bass) "As I Turned Away" and "Frantic". Less favorite one "Race of Hypocrisy".
