This book tells the continuing story of a family in the Owens Valley, California. It tells the story of one woman's life while showing you a vast landscape of history of the area. If you love California and enjoy historical fiction you will not be able to put this book down. Very true to the area and the time period.

Possibly the worst book I've ever read! Unfortunate, because I loved its prequel. Owens Valley history, especially about water rights, is informative. But the story line gets rushed at the end with numerous horrific events that make it difficult to distinguish between fact and fiction. Pacing & timeline become jumbled, as if the writer was rushing to meet a publishing deadline. But worst of all, why is it that those with a poor education in English grammar get to publish books? If that bothers you, don't read this book.
