5.0 out of 5 stars Great resource - I think it beats first aid, September 13, 2009
By
This review is from: Passing the USMLE: Clinical Knowledge (Paperback)
This book is well organized, concise, and makes good use of color images. These are all great features, but the best part is that it's SUPER easy to read. I haven't come across any errors yet (which automatically separates it from First Aid which is plagued with errors- step 1 & 2). Now i'm not discounting first aid. I read it also. Is this material enough to pass? Probably. Enough to score a 99? Maybe. I came across it 8 days before my step 2 ck exam. All of the material in the book is either a review of material i had read else where, or additional information that answered some NBME questions i have come across.

End result:
Hard to chose btw first aid and this book. i'd buy both. if i had to choose one, i would pick this one because of the color pictures/ ease of reading/ and lack of errors.

Suggested additional materials:
USMLE World **(mostly out of scope, questions too specific, not directly helpful on exam..but questions are always good to do)
Kaplan Notes ** (overly detailed, if you can read it all, it's well worth your time..but again, it is long and hard to get through)
Kaplan Flash Cards!** (excellent, do them)
Kaplan Ethics!**(excellent, if you don't do them...you are giving up at least 7-10 questions)
NBME pratice exams **(not really a good indicator of success..questions were way too easy)

Best of Luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you!, January 15, 2011

This review is from: Passing the USMLE: Clinical Knowledge (Paperback)
This review book was top notch, I much preferred this over first aid. Anytime I got any questions wrong on Kaplan I would go back to this book and voila! There it was in this concise book. Obviously no book is ever complete so supplement notes as needed. But I highly recommend this, the pictures are great and I like the organization. It definitely has the nuts and bolts!
