snooze fest,

I won't get into a serious explanation of the plot - it's pretty basic, especially considering the length of the novel. Juliana (heroine and widow of 28) is in dire straits because her sister (age 17) got the family into trouble. How? The little sister wrote a few passionate letters to Ormsby (villan), who took advantage of the young teenage beauty so he could trump all the suitors after her first Season by marrying her. He plans to use the letters as blackmail. Juliana ends up enlisting Asher's (hero and love interest to Juliana) help to steal the letters. He does. The family is saved...there's a little more after this but it's not very exciting.
So why is the book a "snooze fest?" The emotion development of the characters is nil. By this I mean the author doesn't allow any situation in the book for the characters to grow to "love" each other. It's more just a sudden, unrealistic, barely explained "ta da" of "love." And the couple is boring...their conversations seem very juvenile, both in the way they express themselves and in their feelings. They don't do anything particulary exciting. There's a few love scenes. Again, nothing to write home about. Boring. Predictable. And a complete waste of almost $9 for an ebook. If it's free, you can buy it and see why it's boring. Instead, I'd rather direct you to some more compelling authors. Gaelen Foley writes dense, complex novels. Not bran cereal novels in any way, like this novel. I particularly like Foley's Ascension series. Kresley Cole also has some great stuff.

Shirlee Busbee has done it again. The Grand Dame of historical romance has a winner here.
I fell in love with this book right from the start. Shirlee's discription of characters is great. The story held my interest from start to finish. Lively story line and some funny moments, "Passion Becomes Her" is a great read. I would recomend this book to my friends, and I have.

Amazing Book,
This review is from: Passion Becomes Her (Paperback)
Shirlee Busbee has to be one of the most talented writers alive. She creates stories that involve true characters and story lines that play out like a movie while you read it. I hated to put Passion Becomes Her down! And, it was worse knowing that as I was reading - it was going to end...but I had to get to the end! The villain is a true bad guy. The heroine is funny and real. The hero? Perfect! I cannot WAIT until Shirlee Busbee has a new book!

the basic story is good, but too wordy. Some scenes are exquiste but not enough of them. If you are a fan of Shirlee Busbee I would recommend this book.

great story good subplots some comical situations steamy intense loves scenes all around good historical love story i enjoyed all the twists and turns of the story and read it in one weekend i just could not put it down
last year when surrender becomes her came out i grabbed it and read it not knowing it was part of a series anyway i read just this past week the 1st 2 books in the series still oblivious to it being part of this series and when i read the sneak peak at the end of book 2 the light was lit so when i went on to book 4 i kept trying to remember more details and went looking for it sorry to say i could not find it but when i read that book i enjoyed it very much so much so that i passed it on to a family member to enjoy as well anyway i recommend reading these books in order but ms Busbee gives us enough info to keep story going without loosing anything if you read them out of order like i did but book 4 was even better than the last i recommend them all |
