The Man,
By Jumpin' Jesus (Adelaide, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Passion Boots & Bruises (Audio CD)
If Ian Rilen were American or English, he'd be amongst the most legendary of cult stars, and wouldn't have to survive by the seat of his damn pants as he straddles the wrong side of middle age. But then, he wouldn't be Ian Rilen. He's the real rock n' roll deal. He's got the songs, the chops, the look, the lot. Nobody in their late 50's still walks the walk and talks the talk like Rilen. He just is rock n' roll. To see him live is unforgettable. To see him with his old band X verged on being life-changing. Prolific songwriter, but infrequent recorder, he is virtually unknown in Australia outside of the rock n' roll cognoscenti. Oh, geez, I could rave for pages, but if you're a fan of the idea of teenagers Tom Waits, Keith Richards and Iggy Pop forming a band and then mutating into one streetwalking cheetah with a fistful of songs then this is for you.
