This marks about the sixth or seventh video covering the late diva's life and art. Unlike the others, this one should not be considered "biographical", but rather supplemental. You will already need to be familiar with biographical details to really appreciate this one. Produced in France (where the soprano was domiciled and later died), it includes interviews with colleagues (some well-know, others not), French and Italian television interviews of the diva, newsreel footage and still photos, many of them familiar but quite a few being seen for the first time. It's a fascinating study on this enigmatic artist, and as you can see, probably not the last.

The beauty of Bel Canto,

This is delightful.A great documentary about the Queen of theaters.I like it very much. It's back in the 40's-50's when Madame Callas was in her glorious years of entertainment. There're also interviews with some celebrities like Luciano Berengo and Maria Oliva De Poli.
Callas was a lady with great Charisma. She steals your heart away and forever the giant of opera music. This documentary makes you feel sad at times, but let you know her better.

This is a very interesting and high-quality movie about Callas. There are a lot of rare pictures (This is the first time I saw them, from Fidelio 44, school representations etc). Some of the Callas interviews have been around for a while, that's they are not much rare. However, most of the interviews with Callas's friends and colleagues are very interesting and rare. For example, there are interviews with the photographer, souffleur, harpist etc of Scala. In addition, the interviews with famous people of opera world such as the great Leyla Gencer and maestro Georges Pretre. There are also some scenes that includes streets and documents from the 50's of Italy.

This is a very passionate documentary film about Callas' life and work.
Many of her colleagues, coworkers, producers and other conteporaries were intervieved, including the Diva herself. The narrative is intertwined with belowed arias, which gives the passionate praise of Callas much credence. |
