5.0 out of 5 stars CHOCOLATE...Yummmm....
I first got this book at my local library. That is usually the source of my cookbooks. If they seem like something I would like, I go find it on Amazon and order a copy.

This book has great recipes and pictures. (I prefer a picture for each recipe.) The recipes are easy to follow, turn out great and taste delicious! This is a must have for all chocolate...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Recipes, Ugly Book
This cookbook is a collection of chocolate recipes from Better Homes and Gardens. I like the recipes, but think the layout and book design are irritating. I am not sure whether to recommend this book or not.

The book cover is a garish affair with bright pink color and gold leaf. The interior pages are littered with romantic sayings and pictures. On the other hand, it is...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Chocoholic's Dream!, December 13, 2008
I have had this cookbook for 4 years and my oldest daughter and I have made at least 50% of the recipes at least once. Everything has turned out fantastic. We have large extended families on both sides and frequent large dinners. Everything we have made from this cookbook has been a big hit, always among the first things to disappear from the desert bar. We really like the whole book. We like the format with only one recipe to the page and fantastic art work: both the old time romantic photos and the well done finished product pictures. We also don't find the cover at all garish; I like that it stands out among my other cookbooks and can be found at a glance with it's tasteful red and gold cover. Mine is a hardback I am going to order another one for my daughter to take when she leaves home.

On the other hand, it is spiral bound, so it lays flat on the table when you are doing the recipes, which I appreciate very much.

There are a paltry 50 or so recipes. They all appear to be thoroughly tested, so the procedures are easy to follow and I had not problems with any of the ones I tried, although I was skeptical about some of them (for example, heating chocolate in a saucepan over low heat is a good way to burn it; the instructions for folding egg foam based batters are not really explained in detail, etc.). I got several very good recipes, especially the dense tortes that are baked in a tart pan. It has chapters on cookies, ice creams, pies and pastries, cakes and tortes, and sauces.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow your guests., January 25, 2011

I have had this book for several years now and have made many of the recipes; some several times. Whenever I pull this gem off my shelf, people think I am the goddess of baking. Everything in here is delicious and easy to make and the best in its class. I highly recommend this recipe book to anyone wishing to wow and impress.
