This is my favourite album by these three sublime guitar players (by some considerable distance) and this CD has provided me with many years of enjoyment. The remastered edition is a worthwhile improvement over the original CD and the SACD version is better still.
The only minor criticism of this CD/SACD is that the playing time is very short, however that aside, this CD will test your hi-fi systems capabilities to the maximum, as the change in tempi and dynamics (even within the same track), is huge. This is astounding guitar playing that will make you jump in places! Simple placement of the guitarists on left, centre and right channels makes it easy to follow what each player is doing. The different guitars used and the tone from the nylon and steel strings used by each guitarist is readily apparent and the arrangements are exquisite. This is not merely virtuosity for its own sake, these are three men with an almost telepathic communication between each other, who create music that is complex, yet thrilling. This is a must buy if you're at all interested in guitar music and as it hasn't been available for some time, now's your chance to get it again in the best sound quality yet. Truly Passion, Grace & Fire!

This is a great disc. It's a bit short--another ten minutes wouldn't have hurt. Also, my copy doesn't mention a 2008 remaster anywhere--looks suspiciously like an earlier version. Sounds good though. Guess I'll just have to watch closer where I get things. The guitarists do sparkling renditions of their repertoire--two pieces each. I've always been partial to the McLaughlin stuff, but I love guitar music above all other kinds so Di Meola and De Lucia are also in my collection. Passionately played with plenty of racing riffing, it's pretty spectacular going. Turn it up and enjoy.

Not as good as the San Francisco recording,

Pleasant, but without the fun or soul of the San Fransico recording. Of course, it may be that I am biased by having owned that one for so long and being so fond of it . . .
