5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing less than a miracle January 8, 2007
By Jazzcat
Format:Audio CD
This album is a miracle. I could stop here and you have enough words to understand the level this album belongs to. I'm bored when I read reviews where people point out a music as too technical or stuff like this. This music is technical for sure but it is absolutly marvellous and totally blazing on the emotional level. This album is a trip. When I listen to this one sometimes I find myself unable to listen to nothing else for a while. Technique is not against emotions especially in albums like this one! If you are not skilled enough to appreciate the beauty these players produced here, please, don't write reviews! This album is flamenco, jazz, classical, latin, it is simply three mindblowing musicians that united to produce the last word in acoustic guitar music and an unbelievable chapter in the history of music. But this album is not only incredible for guitarists, it is fantastic for everyone because the songwriting is amazing. The credits go to the three of them infact they choosed to record tunes from each one of them (two tunes each) and I can't say which are the best!! And every tune is the perfect sequel to the one that preceed it. It seems as it has been written by one single pen. This cd is even a fantastic audio experience if you have a good hi end system. Even if the tones could be better, the dynamic is there and you can hear each player on a different channel, so you have John in the centre, Paco on the right channel and Al on the left channel. You can recognize easily their different styles. You can follow the dialogs they are having improvising on these marvellous tunes. I own this one since 1990 I guess. It still impress me for the technical abilities of the solos and the compings, it still amazes me for the songwriting skills of these guys, and delight me on the emotional level each time I decided to take it out the vaults. A gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most amazing trio CD October 5, 2000
Format:Audio CD
I have to just say, I love this album! These three guys were at their prime as a group, and you can definetly tell. On their first CD, it was all live, and it had it share of faults and everything, and plus the guys weren't as telepathic as most groups are. Well, they'd been together a few years here, and the result is incredible. I'd say that this is the fastest guitar music i've ever heard in my life, these guys were shredding amazingly fast, and a year or two before Yngwie was in the main stream! The only problem I have with this CD is that it's too short! I'd bet that this album is barely 30 minutes long, if even that. Al himself said in an interview once that it was defintely too short, and that if they'd do something like that these days, they'd go to hell! It's a great CD though, if you love great acoustic music, then definetly get this. They really do play with passion, grace, and fire....intensity and emotion.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must in your CD collection April 7, 2000
Format:Audio CD
The title to this album describes the music perfectly - it is indeed played with passion, grace and fire; sensitivity and ferocity. Usually, I maintain that musicians who play with speed are just displaying technical skill but this album has parts which are so fast its almost unbelievable and yet it portrays such colour and emotion. 'David', for example, is a wonderful piece combining delicate nuances with ferocious flamenco.

5.0 out of 5 stars OH MY LORD...THIS ISN'T HUMAN!!! November 23, 2003
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, and Paco De Lucia produce some of the finest acoustic guitar work ever recorded. Everything about this album is perfect. They play Flamenco the way it's meant to be played. If you're looking for something that obliterates the likes of Ottmar Liebert, "Passion, Fire, and Grace" is it. Don't take my word for it; listen for yourself!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Acoustic CD I have ever heard! December 23, 1999
Format:Audio CD
I first heard this CD more than 10 years ago and it has yet to lose its impact. It is full of virtuoso performances that do not dull the impact of its blend of master guitarists. This CD was my gateway to the world of jazz and flamenco guitar. I would recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Geniuses Meeting March 11, 2003
Format:Audio CD
When I first listened to this CD, I was astonished. These three guys are really amazing. This CD is a mix of flamenco, fusion, jazz and classical music, bathed with beauty and compassion. The intermeshing is incredible, technique, feeling, passion, grace & fire. Short, but is the enough. If you like good and inovating guitar trios, this is for ya. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The three awesome cats do it again.
They killed me in their previous recording, after the hit show in SF, and though not quite as deep, it is still brilliant, and a must for any guitar aficionado.
