The Passion Test: Score an A+,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Passion Test: The Effortless Path to Discovering Your Life Purpose (Mass Market Paperback)
People like to knock books like these because their ideas are perhaps too simple. My thinking, however, is just the opposite- all the good ideas that really work ARE simple. To me, the biggest value of this book is that it can really help one get focused on their passions and the things they really want out of life- and few things are more important than that. Sure you can reduce the book down to its simplest form of "make a list of your passions". But then again, weight loss can be reduced down to "eat less and exercise more" as well. Yes, that's a simple and effective solution, but I doubt most people will be successful with just that simple piece of advice alone. And THAT'S the real value of the book- it provides guidance on how to have a fulfilling life using a very simple idea. Get this book if you feel like something's not quite right in your life and you need a change of direction- the book will help. Remember, you can't get what you want until you know WHAT you want. Readers might also be interested in The Wishing Well Test: Take the Test - Get Your Wish!. G-luck.

Waste of money and time,
By Baddetom "Searcher" (Providence, RI USA) - See all my reviews This is a 5 CD audio book. 2 CD's worth are filled with the authors narrating stories about themselves and their travels. Another 2 CD's worth contain interviews with people who are "living" their passions and making millions of dollars. The 1 CD worth of "content" consists of a series of directions for making assorted lists and a cut from magazines and paste board of desires (you know, like the one you made in the sixth grade ). There is nothing here that hasn't been said before, many times. I don't know what I was thinking! If you want this book, send me an e-mail and I'll give you my copy.

Great material, but save your money,

This review is from: The Passion Test: The Effortless Path to Discovering Your Destiny (Hardcover)
I really enjoyed the first half of the book because it is direct and clear. List 10 passions, find out your top 5 passions and look at them on a daily basis. I had an epiphany when I found out my number 1 passion!
Then, for the rest of the book, there is nothing new and it seems like a rehash from other self-improvement books. I was less excited and have stopped reading the book. This book is recommended for those who don't know their passions in life or need to re-organise their passions to achieve their maximum potential!

Good beginning for those who have not found their passion,
By
This review is from: The Passion Test: The Effortless Path to Discovering Your Destiny (Hardcover)
Having been fortunate enough to have learned my passion as a child, I found this book to no avail. But the message is true and worthwhile and it works. And the stories were inspiring.
If you've not yet found your passion and are not sure how to find it, this is the place to begin. Doing what you love, being the type of person you want to be . . . those are key to a great, fulfilling life. And anything that helps you to get there is a good thing. First, of course, as the book says, you must find your passion. Odd that so many people don't know their passion. But unfortunately, lots of people don't. Just to know how to dig it out of yourself is worth gold. So my recommendation is simple. If you already know you passion, forget this book. It won't be of help to you. Read more about how to apply your passion. But if you've not yet discovered your destiny, read the book. Everyone has an inner gift, something unique. When we do what we love, happiness results. To see people labor daily at jobs they hate is so sad. If people would read a book like this and get started on finding their destiny, they would be better off. So whether to buy the book or not depends on where on that trip you are.

Save your time and money...just another iteration of the same stuff,
This review is from: The Passion Test: The Effortless Path to Discovering Your Destiny (Hardcover)
If you've been around the personal development arena for even a short while you've heard this all before... this book is just another spin on the same content... I became extremely bored and dis-engaged in listening to yet another "guru" tell their story about personal growth.
I think the book is good for those who have never been exposed to this type of information before...but if you have been to seminars, read many of the contemporary personal development books, watched the Secret and on and on with the same stuff... I appreciate the authors words and truly and genuinely feel great for their success... but save your money if you've been around the block at least once.

Could not get passionate about The Passion Test,
By
This review is from: The Passion Test: The Effortless Path to Discovering Your Life Purpose (Mass Market Paperback)
If you want focused, easy to apply guidelines on finding & developing your own passions this book is a waste of your time and money. If you don't mind having your focus constantly interrupted by the boring details of the author's ego trip to India, then you might enjoy it. It totally failed to gain & keep my interest long enough to dig out anything of practical value. The "effortless path" in this book leads to boredom, confusion, and disappointment. It never got anywhere close to helping me discover my life purpose. I regret buying the book.

Find out what it means to live a passionate life in The Passion Test.,
By Blaine Greenfield "eclectic reader" (Belle Meade, NJ) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Passion Test: The Effortless Path to Discovering Your Life Purpose (Mass Market Paperback)
Imagine being able to discover your passions and then living
your life according to what matters most to you . . . that's the premise behind THE PASSION TEST (see also Sections 2, 10 and 11), an informative book by Janet Bray Attwood and Chris Attwood. The authors present a simple test that enables you to determine your top five passions . . . with that information and the Attwood step-by-step action, you learn how to align your life accordingly. As to what it means to live a passionate life: * Exciting, fulfilling, thrilling, on fire, purposeful, turned on, motivated, entertaining, easy, fun, unstoppable. It's a life aligned with destiny. If that sounds too good to be true, the book shows you exactly how it can be done through many stories . . . this one, in particular, caught my attention: * A young girl who collected autographs of famous people was at the airport waiting to board her plane when she saw a crowd of people standing around a small man in a white robe. She knew this man had to be someone well known because of the large crowd around him. She went up to one of the people standing nearby and asked who the man was. She was told, "That's Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a great Saint from the Himalayas." The girl excited ran up to Maharishi and immediately asked for his autograph. Maharishi took her pen and paper, looked her straight in the eyes, and said, "I will give you something much more important than my autograph." And on the piece of paper he wrote one word: Enjoy. What was the message Mararishi was conveying? The whole purpose of life is to enjoy. When you are not enjoying you are out of the flow of life. You are missing your purpose. I also liked the book's second part, in which several famous people were interviewed with respect to how they created the life they wanted . . . among those featured were Nani Ma, Debbie Ford, Richard Paul Evans, Stephen M. R. Covey, Marci Shimoff and Dr. John Hagelin . . . I particular liked Jay Abraham's comment about how he changed things around: * Today one of my top passions is having balance in my life. I used to be a workaholic and monstrously committed. I'd work eighteen hours a day, seven days a week, and hove meetings at two in the morning. Now, though, if my wife calls and says, "Let's go to lunch," unless I have a very, very important meeting, I'll stop and do that, because in the scope of forever, that's more important. I want balance--economic, intellectual, spiritual, physical, sexual--all kinds of balanced stimulation at a lever that's very healthy. Perhaps best of all, there a great listing of resources at the very end . . . some 18 pages of people and programs that the authors know who can provide further support to live a passionate life. THE PASSION TEST's subtitle says it is THE EFFORTLESS PATH TO DICOVERING YOUR LIFE PURPOSE . . . I wouldn't exactly call it effortless, but any time spent going through the process will be well worth your time.

The naysayers are correct. This book has a great message, in fact 200 pages of great message, all of which could have been explained in adequate detail in 3 pages or a single blog post. Don't waste your money, skim it at the book store and go home and live it.

All hype, no substance,
By clarita davies (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Passion Test: The Effortless Path to Discovering Your Destiny (Hardcover)
I should have read the other negative reviews before buying this book. The Passion Test is nothing more than making a list of 10 things you like and then whittling it down. No insight, no creativity, no help.
One thing is clear: The author's passion is marketing pap to the pseudo-spiritual seekers. Save your money.

I found this to be just another average self help read. The book "Simpleology" is very similar in the terms of guiding someone to success. I found it covers the same ole tired methods already in my arsenol of intellect.
