This review is from: Passionate Pirat (Harlequin Historical) (Paperback)
Synopsis from back of book:
Raven took what he wanted --- gold, jewels . . . and women. Beautiful and headstrong, Angelina Blackthorne was plunged from the licentious court of Charles II into a world of treachery and intrigue, as she roamed the high seas in a desperate bid to save her deceased father's business from ruin. Then her ship was raided and she fell into the clutches of the notorious Raven, the very man she held responsible for her troubles . . . But was he as heartless as he appeared? As cruel and oblivious to her pleas for freedom as she believed? And why, especially since she'd been abducted by this ruthless pirate, did she feel as if she belonged in his arms? Personal commentary: In the first place, the ridiculous setting of a woman in this time period sailing the high seas to run her business was pretty hard to swallow (although I admit this type of thing is rife in historical romance). There was supposed to be some intrigue about the relationship between her fiancé and Raven but it was so transparent I don't know why the author bothered. As you can probably, tell, this story didn't work for me and I can't say I recommend it. |
