5.0 out of 5 stars This is one of the best books on business I have ever read.
I believe Mr. Lucas has captured the secret to the success of any business. You can not win in business or in every day life unless you have passion. The key is, to involve your employees enough so that they feel ownership of the business and they will develop a passion to win.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too little content
I was disappointed by this book. There is very little valuable content, and that little is stretched and repeated on and on in order to fill more than 200 pages. All together, a boring, badly written, repetitive book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lucas is on the leading edge - a must read!, October 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Passionate Organization: Igniting the Fire of Employee Commitment (Hardcover)
The Passionate Organization is on the cutting edge of what's happening in our global economy. I know of nothing that wins over passion - education will not, experience will not. It is a passion to win that brings about success. Working with executives in more than 30 industries as an executive coach I have found this book to be the best pick on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creating positive organizations and outstanding results, April 1, 2003
This review is from: The Passionate Organization: Igniting the Fire of Employee Commitment (Hardcover)
There are a lot of books on organizations, but nothing like this book. It goes to the core of what it takes to build an enthusiastic and committed group of people who can consistently produce great results. There is fabulous material in here for leaders and staff alike. The concepts are insightful, and there are plenty of applications. If this book was widely read and applied, organizations of all types and sizes would be revolutionized from the inside out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Insightful!, October 18, 2001
This review is from: The Passionate Organization: Igniting the Fire of Employee Commitment (Hardcover)
A loyal employee will always show up bodily, but committed employees direct their minds and spirits to the organization's goals. Therein lies the premise of James R. Lucas' compelling and original book. To truly motivate a workforce, he proposes, you must appeal to something deeper than performance reviews, employee manuals and monetary rewards. You must harness the passion of your employees to the goals of your organization. In other words: Lead don't manage. While some experienced (dare we say cynical?) managers might grow impatient with the slightly fuzzy, optimistic tome of Lucas' book, the bottom-line commandment that managers should consider the goals, devotions and beliefs of their employees when choosing tactics for motivating a workforce cannot be disputed. We [...] recommend this outstanding treatment of the nature and nurture of employee motivation to anyone who stands higher than the first step in the reporting line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lucas identifies the driving force behind major achievment, September 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Passionate Organization: Igniting the Fire of Employee Commitment (Hardcover)
This book shows the reader the crucial motivating power of passion. It challenges you to think in a fresh and new way about change, and what causes positive change to occur in organizations (as well as what causes organizations to stagnate). Powerfully inspiring.
