5.0 out of 5 stars Marvelous Historical Fantasy
As the blurb on the cover says "a marvelous, magical romance", I totally agree. This is another book I bought because of the buy three get one free deal. I find it hard to buy an author or book I have no knowledge of. However every now and then I get lucky and I will defintiely be looking for more by this author.

Reynald de Mortimer is a powerful marcher Lord...

1.0 out of 5 stars Poory written and painful to read
Sorry. I strongly disagree with the other reviewers. This was my first time reading Sara Mackenzie and it will be the last time. I think one of her sentences, "It made her feel icky" sums up this very poorly written novel. The plot had potential, but the weak level of writing made this book painful to read.

As the blurb on the cover says "a marvelous, magical romance", I totally agree. This is another book I bought because of the buy three get one free deal. I find it hard to buy an author or book I have no knowledge of. However every now and then I get lucky and I will defintiely be looking for more by this author.

Reynald de Mortimer is a powerful marcher Lord from the thirteenth century. He died in the flames of betrayal and envy. Now the Sorceress of Time and the Between worlds, has seen fit to give him one last chance to fulfull his destiny. Strong men who die before their time and by betrayal are transported to the between time and left asleep. The Sorceress has been interfereing by giving them second chances.

Rey is a strong leader and if he had survived would have had a lasting impact for peace on this world. Now he finds himself awakened in our time and only if he can solve the puzzle of his demise can he get a chance at life again. Known as "the Ghost" during his lifetime he has come back to a time when his castle is a hotel and during a medevil festival. He is totally out of time and place, and he is a very confused knight.

Until Amy Fairweather, a con artist, comes along. Amy is studying to be a school teacher now. She used to be a con artist along with her brother,Jez, and he has asked for her help in stealing a diamond from a very obnoxious bully, who is a prince from another land. She happens upon Rey and thinks he is a con artist too. She rescues him from the hotel manager and winds up with a roommate.

As Rey begins to remember his past he slowly convinces Amy that he is the real "Ghost" and he needs her help. They investigate the library and the legends surrounding his death. The more he remembers and learns the more he is finding the traces of the one who betrayed him. Traces of hate and betrayal in the lies that have been printed and taught for many years.

Amy begins to see that she will be betraying her own new self if she continues to aid her brother in his plans. The story intertwines the past and the present in a wonderful way. Leading these two hearts to each other. Teaching each the lesson they need to grow and survive.

I loved it. The fantasy, the magic, the romance, the dragon and the desires of two lonely people. Do not miss it. I have not read any books by this author before and although I know there are more books in this series this one is stand alone good. Who am I kidding? It's stand alone GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sara Mackenzie's Immortal warrior series, is the absolute best.
She combines Mystery, passion and magic all in one book. Let's not forget, Every woman's dream come true... A knight in shining armor, always ready to save a damsel in distress, whether she knows it or not.

This was a awesome book! I have never read Sara Mackenzie before and I was extremly happy when I read this book and found another author that could really write from the heart and with depth beyond just sex. The love scenes were definitly great but what I really liked was the way Amy came across as so human. Rey was what a woman wants yet was just as human as Amy. This is one of many of her books that I will read. I ordered all of her books an hour after I finished reading Passions of the Ghost. She also goes under the name of Sara Bennett. This book is a definite read till two in the morning kind of book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Oh The Passion, January 30, 2007
This review is from: Passions of the Ghost (Mass Market Paperback)
Reynald de Mortimer was a powerful marcher Lord from the thirteenth century who died because of a horrid betrayal. The Sorceress between times offers him a chance to put things right. But things have not stayed the same and his castle is now a hotel and it's hosting a medieval fair. Amy Fairweather former con artist now aspiring teacher is forced to help her brother steal an important diamond. But there is "the ghost" who gives her nights new meaning. Can a knight from the past and a not so distressed modern day damsel find a happy ending?

"Passions of the Ghost" is the third title in the Sorceresses romance series. Ms. Mackenzie aka as Sara Bennett had taken the sub-genre of the paranormal added some twists and created a very entertaining series. Even though this is part of a series this was a strong stand alone read and a fine addition to this series. Reynald and Amy are wonderful characters. Both flawed and yet can see the good in the other. I love a good paranormal storyline where it's believable and not overly contrived. Ms. Mackenzie has managed to combine romance and the otherworldly into a page turning read that will entertain romance readers. Courtesy of CK2S Kwips and Kritiques

4.0 out of 5 stars fun Sorceress romantic fantasy, December 2, 2006
This review is from: Passions of the Ghost (Mass Market Paperback)
The Sorceress decides her next second chance hero will be thirteenth century Welsh legend Reynold de Mortimer, better known seven centuries ago as the "Ghost". He was tough but honest and kept his land and people safe from marauding English and Welsh. However, he failed to plan for the deluge after he died in 1299 so his people suffered from war. Thus he can atone for his arrogance and ultimate failure.

In the present, Amy Fairweather is a guest at Reynold's castle, a tourist attraction hosting a Medieval Long Weekend. Though she prefers not to be here she owes her brother big time so she is here acting nice to the odious Prince Nicco as her sibling directed to do. She is to distract the Prince while her sibling steals the Star of Russia from him. However, when Nicco tries to get his way with his "Aimee", Rey intercedes. Already stunned not so much from his reawakening, but to learn that his castle is a hotel, he feels even more confused by his attraction to Amy. As they fall in love, she comes to believe his tale of being the thirteenth century owner of this castle especially when a dormant fuming dragon awakens.

The third Sorceress romantic fantasy (see RETURN OF THE HIGHLANDER and SECRETS OF THE HIGHWAYMAN) is an over top absolute fun tale starring two likable protagonists. Rey is perfect as he struggles to understand the modern world where initially everything he held sacrosanct seems defaced yet he quickly understands real values like honor and love remain the same and men still abuse positions of authority. Amy is his perfect guide to the twenty first century as they battle arrogant royals and lethal dragons while falling in love.

Liked this one because it brings someone from the past back to the future. Got hooked on her books with the highlander's that came back from the past. Little slow to start with put it down a few times but once I got to going was great.

This review is from: Passions of the Ghost (Mass Market Paperback)
Passions of the Ghost was as excellantly written as well as Sara's other two previous novels (of the Immortal Warrior series.) The story line was completely believable. The two main characters, Reynald and Amy, just sizzled and complimented each other perfectly. What impressed me was the fact that each of the two lovers admitted numerous flaws all through the book. You will feel their love as you read each chapter. You will laugh. You will feel their pain. You will pray they find happiness. You will NOT be disappointed if you buy this book. The ONLY criticism I have is that from the description of the two main characters, Reynald has,"... white-blond hair, and grey almost colorless eyes,he was well named the Ghost." Amy supposedly had green eyes and red copper hair. Somehow though, take a really good look at the cover of the book and you'll realize the error that I see. Overlook the error though. The book is definetly worth the price you paid and more. DEAR SARA MACKENZIE, COULD WE HAVE MORE OF THESE IMMORTAL WARRIORS COME TO LIFE,PLEASE?! LET'S SAY, 5 OR 6 SHOULD DO IT!!!
