3.0 out of 5 stars Passions Of Love, March 10, 2010
This review is from: Passions of Love (Paperback)
Hello Amazonians!! :)
It is true as Julie Doe mentioned, you can read my poetry for FREE at Authors Den. I have hundreds of communal cyber postings at my den in many varying stylized genres and varied categorizations. Throughout my poetry books however are several hundred more all inclusive poetries especially selective to my book confections only. Julie Doe would have seen that if she bought any of my book(s) she flagged to her "bad-poetry" category tags. I appreciate Julie Doe mentioning my den to everyone. I am always delighted to have new readers and visitors traffic to my den whether they buy a book or not. I feel it is in good measures to post my poetry styles and also offer "Per Book" specific sample previews for what is inside each of my books. This way you can also decide beforehand over purchasing. I would never want anyone to know dissatisfaction through their purchasing of any of my poetry book confections. Seeing first hand my forms of emotional expressionisms is important. Also if your preferences are cyber reading, please feel free to visit any time; and as Julie Doe mentioned-No Purchase Necessary :)

I wanted you to know too Julie Doe I am no "beginner" when it comes to writing poetry. In 2008 "Passions of Love" was however my "beginner" book offering to the self-publishing industries; Clearly a difference. I want you to know however that I have taken in constructive parts of your review with great appreciation towards constructive insights. "Passions of Love" is under some editorial revisions which will include an additional 200+ poetries from my thousands of 2008 (Never Posted) archives. I also have updated the book cover. I have actually wanted to revise "Passions of Love" as well as "Captured Darkness" since 2009. After I self-published "Loves Passionate Heart" my 3rd publication I knew I needed to revise my first 2 publications. I don't know why I dragged my feet. I do wish to Thank You for your critiquing opinions. These 2 books truly do need some editorial revisions.

This is not to say you will like the poetries by no means; it is evident you do not like my stylizations to personal expressionisms. I understand this though. Poetry is a very personal preference to everyone, just as "Love" is to each of us. Love is so much more to me than a physicality. It deeply roots into the soul of all life existences as love's energy resides within the spiritual essences we each know in our own fashions/beliefs. I also understand the diversity of these preferences as I have preferences too when it comes to everything especially my perceptions of love's bounties. Preferences are important to our individuality and are a very personal expression as well as chiseled impressions to each of us.

I am sorry your feelings are what they are, but I must say too I am very grateful & delighted you expressed yourself as this helps me grow even more within this avenue of poetry. I am utterly happy someone noticed my publications after all these years to search them out with the links I provide, and felt so utterly compelled to post a public forums review. Even though your personal opinions are cited within negative connotations I am delighted to your giving. Also Thank You for the mention to my poetry site with AD!! And Thank You for your time to offer your opinion to my poetic book confections even though they differ from those whom patron my poetic adventures. I wanted to respond and acknowledge you for your time you took for this review.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad poetry!, January 25, 2010
This review is from: Passions of Love (Paperback)
I'm always on the look out for good new poets. Unfortunately, this poet is one of the worst I have read in a long time (and I've read a lot of poetry from beginners.)

Many of the poems included in this book can be read for free at Authorsden, and this review is based on that free sample. And thank goodness, it was available, because I would have been very upset if I had actually spent money to read the drivel contained in this book.

The poems in this book are overwritten, stilted, stiff, full of abstractions and nonsensical phrases/pairings of words. Punctuation is rampantly abused; words are misused. Additionally, no attempt is made to dig beneath the surface, to explore relationships in new ways, or to work with words in images in new and engaging manner. "Love" is treated a fanciful spiritual concept and discussed in vague terms that bring nothing new to the table; love is not explored through concrete experience or imagery, and the result is a boring bland collection that made my eyes glaze over.

I can't recommend this book to anyone, except as an example of how not to write poetry. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

If you are looking for good poetry about love and relationships, I would recommend "Loose Woman" by Sandra Cisneros or "The Wellspring" by Sharon Olds instead of this book.
