5.0 out of 5 stars It was extremely touching
Anyone who likes reading about human relationships and about love in particular should read this book. This is the only book whose characters stayed with me for days. Especially Lucas John and the love Kezia had for him. To give up all your riches, to see beyond a person's social status, to know him like he is from the inside...that's the power of love.

3.0 out of 5 stars Starts out Slow, Finishes with a bang
I really thought throughout the first 70 pages that I was going to give up on this book, just put it down and forget about it. The style DS uses during writing this book is quite different from many of her other novels. The style reminded me of Anne Rice during Exit to Eden. There was a lot to the book, many thoughts, and runnings of the mind; you could call it a big...

5.0 out of 5 stars D. Steele is so exciting and romantic, yet down-to-earth!, April 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Passion's Promise (Hardcover)
I just love Danielle Steele. I'm working on reading every one of her books. Every book of hers that I see I buy! In Passion's Promise, she writes about a women that grew up with a rich and tramatic lifestyle. She writes how hard it was, everyone always thinks it's so glamorous. The ending is such a surprise. The book reads so fast! It's unpredictable. Danielle Steele can write! It is my dream to meet her. Every book that I've read of hers has been excellant. I have nothing bad to say about any of them. She's the most creative and interesting writer. I hate reading, except Danielle Steele books.

I really thought throughout the first 70 pages that I was going to give up on this book, just put it down and forget about it. The style DS uses during writing this book is quite different from many of her other novels. The style reminded me of Anne Rice during Exit to Eden. There was a lot to the book, many thoughts, and runnings of the mind; you could call it a big mood swing. I didn't care about Kezia or the other characters at all until about halfway through the book. Then, it turned into something interesting. Passions Promise should have probably been titled "Kezia's Emotional Roller Coaster." The thing that makes you read on is out of curiousity wondering if this crazy chick is going to get it together in time to rip out another heart. The ending is not so great that it makes the boring first chapters worthwhile but it's good casual reading for the die-hard DS fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Passionate or Promising To Be Found Here, May 10, 2008
By
This review is from: Passion's Promise (Paperback)
Kezia isn't a very interesting character, a rich girl who falls in love with a convict. I'm a huge Danielle Steel fan, but I was page skimming about halfway through, trying to find some reason to keep on reading.

The entire premise is unrealistic, although given what we now know about the skeletons in Danielle Steel's closet, a rich woman born into comfort and privilege really **did** fall head over heels in love with a convict. So the story may have seemed logical to her when she wrote it, but Passion's Promise doesn't stand the test of time, and is one of her weaker books.

2.0 out of 5 stars unbelievable plot, April 30, 2008

I love that this book is set in San Francisco. And the story about her having a 'pretend' life to escape her fame as a rich society girl is interesting. Hardly anyone could resist reading about the lifestyle of the rich and famous, and this book does that.
The plot is just way too unbelievable. How could Kezia have escaped the notice of paparazzi? How could the other people she hung out with not recognize her? Spoilers ahead: Worst, how could she, with all of her money and power, not hire an amazing lawyer for her boyfriend? That was stupid. And then her falling for the other guy is just way unbelievable.

2.0 out of 5 stars Passion's Promise by Danielle Steel, January 11, 2005

This review is from: Passion's Promise (Paperback)
My mother always loved Danielle Steel and she collected as many of her books as she could find throughout her life. She died several years ago and I still have a lot of her stuff. I really like to read and I came across the box of her Danielle Steel books. I've read a few books out of the box over the past few months and Passion's Promise was the latest. I was very disappointed. I really enjoyed the other books I've read so far but I didn't like this one very much. I don't think Danielle Steel spent much time brainstorming and planning the book. She spends a good length introducing Kezia. Then she spends another good length of time talking about Kezia and her love affair with Luke. Then you're almost done with the book and the end is shoved into like 20 pages. I was not satisfied with the ending. It seemed like she spent all this time setting up the rhythm of the book and then suddenly stopping it at the end.

2.0 out of 5 stars BORRRING HODGE PODGE!, October 27, 2010

I can't believe this novel got published. There is NOTHING to grab the reader for the first 100 pages....then its repetitious and tedious telling with an unbelievable ending. I like Danielle Steel and this book had its moments but they were very few and far between.

To begin with, the heroine, Kezia, is such an unlikable character, whiny, foul-mouthed, spoiled...and I couldn't care less what happened to her.

The boyfriend, Lucas, an ex-con, still involved with dirty deals, is not grafted well enough. We know nothing about his background....why he got where he is....nothing....nothing that explains his motives or why he is the way he is.

The writing is, as usual, full of filthy language and obscene scenarios, a trademark of Ms. Steel. If you can get past that, and you're not offended, you can read her books. Her books are a guilty pleasure but skip this one unless you have acquired good discipline because it will take the patience of a saint to finish reading this mish mash, hodge podge about unlikable characters. There are better Steel books out there.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Great, September 16, 2010
This review is from: Passion's Promise (Paperback)
Smart, beautiful, and very rich, Kezia Saint Martin leads two lives: one as a glamorous socialite jetting between the poshest places in Europe and America; the other, under a false name, as a dicated journalist committed to justice and her profession.

But the two worlds are pulling her apart, leaving her conflicted about her identity and the lies she tells to every man she meets. Then she meets Lucas Johns, a bold, dynamic crusader for social change - and an ex-con. Their attraction is immediate, but their love may be just one step from tragedy at any time.

This book is not great by DS's standards to be honest.

Be warned, this book also goes under the name of Golden moments.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Boring, September 7, 2009
This review is from: Passion's Promise (Paperback)
I have read many novels of Danielle steel, But believe me , this is by far the most boring novel , I have ever read.

Book is all about heroine keiza's designer dresses and her beauty (i am sure Ms Steel is trying to portray herself in the character. as Kieza is also petite like her :( )...

Rest of the book is about trials in the court and the emotions of two lovers separated by jail (Which I am sure is all about author's experience about Danny Zugelder.

I just didn't understand why Ms steel was trying to portray her own emotions and her own life (her fantasy life )..

Novel didn't have any plot. its all about emotions..!! Its very boring to read..!!

Pls save yourself some money and don't waste money on this book
