A great book that is written so that everyone can understand it. Easy informative language teamed with easy to understand pictures and diagrams. Not full of technical lingo that requires a degree to be able to understand it. Great read!!!

I bought the Passive Solar Primer because it said it had lots of images and I was wanting to see a gallery of passive solar buildings. But it turns out that the book is full of drawings and illustrations.

This book published in 2008 is identical, except for a new prologue and deletion of one tiny irrelevant chapter to Natural Solar Architecture published 24 years before in 1984. Apparently David Wright is saying he hasn't learned anything in the intervening years and/or that nothing has changed. This is a very crude exercise in making money rather than publishing an honest book. The 1984 book was not that great to begin with.

David Wright has over 40 years of hands-on, minds-on passive solar experience. He has made many mistakes. He has designed and built many passive solar structures in many climates (Pacific Coast at the ocean to Great Basin to Rocky Mountains). He has a "Solar Cat" award on the wall in his office (cats always know where is the best place to lay in the sun). He has others working under him now, but he is the guiding hand and mind. He brings concepts to reality. Want to talk to someone about passive solar design and function? Get this book.
