This video helps photographers present their work and themselves more effectively whether they are seeking their first job or a career advancement.
Anchoring the show is Rich Clarkson, former director of photography at the Topeka Capital -Journal and National Geographic. Clarkson has been responsible for "grooming" more photographers of the year and Pulitzer Prize winners than anyone in the business.
The show opens with National Geographic photographer Chris Johns sharing how he developed his first portfolio and then built his career into contracts with Geographic, and most recently into the books Valley of Life: Africa's Great Rift and Wild at Heart. Says Johns, "Two of the most important things in your career are patience and persistence."
Clarkson then reviews and critiques two young working photojournalists' portfolios. Topics include: vision and technique as fundamentals, style, sequencing, ideas for new work, self marketing and networking--advice to help separate you from the competition.
