Great book, June 1, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: A Past Revenge (Harlequin Presents, No 780) (Paperback)
Nicholas Andracas commissions a portrait for his mistress, but is more interested in the artist, Danielle, than in the portrait. He does not recognize Danielle as the innocent young girl who had given herself to him seven years ago, only to be told afterwards to get out of his sight. Danielle decides to use his attraction to exact revenge for the past.

Not as good as I remembered but still a great read, March 23, 2007
This review is from: A Past Revenge (Harlequin Presents, No 780) (Paperback)
I read this story over 20 years ago. It was one of those Harlequin Romance that really stood out for me.
I found the novel again here on Amazon and ordered it.
The novel tells the romantic Story of Nicholas and Danielle. These two people met 7 years previously although, he has no idea of the previous meeting.
When they meet 7 years later, he is instantly attracted to her. However, he has a mistress. This mistress is very jeolous woman and does her best to cause all kinds of trouble.
Nicholas pursues Danielle relentlessly. She resist but only mildly. She really wants to get him back for how he treated her 7 years ago.
The story concludes with Danielle telling Nick about a deep dark secret that they both share.
While I did not think it was good as I remembered, it is still one of my favorite Harlequin Romance novels.

Delicious story where the intended party is NOT an innocent bystander!, July 30, 2010
This review is from: A Past Revenge (Harlequin Presents, No 780) (Paperback)
Nicholas Andracas was a piece of work -POW at the beginning but has a good explanation for that, which he of course gives at the end of the story. He sees Danielle across the room at his niece's party and they make eye contact. He approaches and she leaves with him. In his defense, given that she willingly went with him and didn't say anything to the contrary she did look like what he thought she was. Once he realizes his mistake he does NOT sit out to correct it or even bother to look for her. He honestly didn't care too much for her at the time. She was just a body that he paid to use and he felt that by looking for her it would compound the embarrassment of the situation for her as well as him.
Nick and Danielle cross paths again 7 years later when she has been commissioned to paint a portrait of his current mistress, a spoiled actress who doesn't want to be set aside. Nick is immediately attracted to Danielle, but he doesn't realize that they have a history. A history where he used her and then tossed two hundred pounds at her for that privilege. He tries to pursue Danielle and she continues to put him off. Finally she decides to give back to him, the same two hundred pounds that he gave to her years ago and in the same way.
And the story takes off! He pursues she pushes, prods, and teases him for awhile. Then she finally gives in and leaves the next morning after leaving the money for him. He thinks the money is to pay for her staying at his house and she tells him to think about it. It wasn't for room and board but for the privilege of using his body!
This was a wonderful story with a strong determined heroine who had decided to seek revenge for a wrong done to her as well as the innocent child that she bore from that union that didn't live past ten days. It was a change from the usual vengeance seeking hero who goes after the innocent party just because they are related to the offender of them. Danielle knew who her target was and she set out to get at that target! Nick changed in the end and became a more loveable hero and Danielle was able to work past her hurt and find that love with him.
