Kolpas, author of The Breakfast and Brunch Book ( LJ 4/15/88), describes California pizzas that are eclectic, easy to make, elegant, and light. Most of these recipes, especially those featuring vegetables and cheese, are quite appealing; a few verge on the ridiculous (a Reuben pizza?). Evelyne Sloman's The Pizza Book ( LJ 7/84) is one of the best of this genre, but designer pizzas continue to be popular, so most collections could add Kolpas's paperback.

There are many good recipes in this book, and most take only 20 minutes to prepare. Especially good are the chicken with lemon caper cream sauce, and smoked turkey with goat cheese and pine nuts.

Highly recommended for the family on the go.

I've been using this book since it was first published over 10 years ago. It has many excellent pasta recipes, many that are now particular favorites in our family, such as 'Tuna with White Beans' and 'Spicy Cheddar with Bacon'. The recipes are simple, fast and tasty. Well worth purchasing.
