5.0 out of 5 stars the best
not well organized, and 70's color reproduction, but otherwise, the best pastel instruction (in portraiture) that I have come across. Highly recommended and much better than contemporary books. But it while you caN !!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars A master at his craft, but book needs updated
Too many "black and white" pictures to get the feel of Daniel Greene's art. Plus, you get to see his work in progress, but not enough info about the colors he is actually using. Nice to look at and get an idea of his craft, but if you are wanting to learn, check out newer Pastel books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Has held up amazingly well, February 16, 2011
This review is from: Pastel (PBK) (Paperback)
This book was published from 1974 to around 1997 without, as far as I know, any revisions to the book. The bulk of the illustrations are in black and white, the supplies available to pastel artists has changed quite a bit over the last 35 years, but even so the text still holds up and contains valuable insights from a master portrait painter.
