This review is from: The Pastor's Undergraound Guide to the Revised Common Lectionary (Paperback)
I have been a pastor for almost 50 years. My denomination was traditionally independent of anything that hinted of any connection to the Church of Rome. That means our worship services tied to scripture, but the overall pattern was planned with a theme and purpose very different from the lectionary.. About four years ago we began using it. I was too old and experienced to get any basic training in this lectionary stuff from the central headquarters--I was supposed to figure it out on my own, with whatever help I could find in the Scriptures and with the Holy Spirit
This series of three little books has become my major crutch. It gives a great guide to what the point of the series is, and why the progression works the way it does. Some old dogs can learn new tricks because now I wholly support the use of the common lectionary. |
