I have always used a pastry cutter (or blender) for cutting in the butter in pastries--mostly biscuits. My children could not find them, so I set out to get one for them. Mostly, nobody had them, and the ones I did find were flimsy little wire things. This one is great. The wooden handle is comfortable and the blades are just exactly what is needed. I bought one for each child, plus one for a roommate of a daughter (she does great biscuits) and they were well worth it.

This is a heavy duty blender which stands up to repeated pounding in a bowl of what I am doing with it. Not a problem and easy to wash, at least my health care aide didn't complain about cleaning it. I also use it to make egg salad because it works so well it chopped everything up without using my electric food chopper. I really like it.

Works great, does the job, larger then the one I had and makes it alot easier for me to work with in a larger bowl. Great for cutting in butter in flour etc.
