Cleans easily in warm soapy water.

I like this because it's sturdier than the whisk-type pastry blenders that just have wires.
MarthaP
The wooden handle was very comfortable in my hand and the entire tool felt very sturdy.

I have always used a pastry cutter (or blender) for cutting in the butter in pastries--mostly biscuits. My children could not find them, so I set out to get one for them. Mostly, nobody had them, and the ones I did find were flimsy little wire things. This one is great. The wooden handle is comfortable and the blades are just exactly what is needed. I bought one for each child, plus one for a roommate of a daughter (she does great biscuits) and they were well worth it.

This is a heavy duty blender which stands up to repeated pounding in a bowl of what I am doing with it. Not a problem and easy to wash, at least my health care aide didn't complain about cleaning it. I also use it to make egg salad because it works so well it chopped everything up without using my electric food chopper. I really like it.

Works great, does the job, larger then the one I had and makes it alot easier for me to work with in a larger bowl. Great for cutting in butter in flour etc.

I dislike this purchase so much I've been moved to create my first Amazon review, ever. I swear by the pastry blender for perfect pie doughs and used my previous OXO one to death (until the handle became unglued). I was drawn to this one by the good reviews and the fact that the handle is screwed or bolted on, so it wouldn't "pop" from heavy use. Nearly the first time I used it, the blades bent on cold butter. I bend them back, use it more, they bend again. It is completely unacceptable that a pastry blender cannot handle cold butter. My only regret is that I did not return this the first time it happened; I'm finally chucking it and going back to my OXO one, which at least gave me 4 good years of use before breaking.

Bought this blender because I have an Ecko pastry blender and the blades tend to bend if cutting in very cold butter, which is what I use it for. I just received this one and the blades bend just as easily and the wooden handle is poorly attached. I thought this was going to be more heavy-duty and was willing to put up with having to hand wash (due to the wooden handle), but my older Ecko blender is better than this.

My Mother loves to bake, and I can't tell you how excited she was when this came in the mail. No more using two knives to cut the butter into the dough! This is a good time saver, and I'd recommend it for anyone who bakes regularly.

I am puzzled. Why does the blender look like it has wire blades when the one I received has thick cutting blades that are sharp and difficult to clean?
I wanted to send it back but I figured I'll just donate it to a charity re-sale shop. The one pictured is the one I wanted and will continue to search for it.
Unhappy with this purchase.

For making flaky crusts and also blending bananas, I have not found a better design. My 4 year old can use this to make banana bread (and she loves to help with the cooking). This makes mashing a lot easier than using a spoon too. And I have thrown it in the dishwasher with no rust issues. Anyone who likes baking should get one of these pastry blenders, you can't beat the price for what the tool does.
