For Thanksgiving I created a dessert platter with bite sized goodies - cheesecake bites, streusel cake and pecan tarts. I used the tamper to create the tarts and out of the 3 desserts they disappeared first! The tamper was so easy to use. I'm glad I didn't have to use my thumb to form all the shells. The pecan tart recipe it came with was divine. I can't wait to make more desserts. Will definitely have to try making polvoron soon.

This is a handy tool for making tartlets. The tamper is the correct size and shape and is very durable. Shaping the tart shells using a mini muffin pan goes very quickly. Do not purchase a smaller size tamper.

The Ddaisy Tart Tamper really works. For all you tart makers out there, no more fooling around with filling the tiny tart pans with dough and straightening them out in the pan. Just make a 1 inch ball, dip the tamper in flour and push the dough down and it is ready for filling. I have had other tampers and still had to do some adjusting to the dough, not with this one. One tamp and it is perfect. I thought I would never make Tea Time Tassies again. I love good inventions.

I ordered this because I like the end shaped for mini muffin pans. Made in the USA hasn't helped with quality control. The ends have to be sanded smooth before I can use it. The smaller mini muffin end even had little wood splintery pieces sticking up when I first received this item. I didn't think to take a picture of it before I worked some of those pieces down. The larger flat end also needs sanding but the worse is the small end. Luckily my husband is handy and will take care of this for me. I just need to make sure he doesn't sand it too much, but just enough to make it usable.

In fact the ends are rougher than the wood my daughter bought to make her own bachi for her Taiko class. (Think fat drum sticks) The wood store that we went to custom cut 1¼" dowels to length for her bachi and their rough cut was smoother than the ends of this item. Disappointed but will make it work. Oh...also did not care for the sticker on the handle. I removed it along with left over adhesive.

I have been seeing the need for one of these in many recipes. When I saw that it was made in
USA is a plus. It came in 2 days - faster than I expected.

Update: I just finished using the damper for pressing cookie dough crust into my springform pan and a pyrex plan. I was able to get a more even crust bed and not get my hands so gooey.

When using it we put plastic wrap and flour on the bottom so it would not stick. The wood is fine but it might be better to have a material that wont stick.

I tried shaping the mini tarts by hand the first time - what a PAIN! And they just puffed up into unrecognizable shapes when they started baking. This tool pushes the dough into a perfect shape and uniform thickness - perfect. I also picked it because it's Made in USA. Great tool!

I purchased it for a shower but it isn't as nice as mine. My tamper seems denser, better quality of wood?
