It is very funny and for the zombie lover a must!

I bought this as a present and actually decided to keep it for myself as a coffee table book - always gets a laugh, or "Eww!" Very entertaining.

Every time we read Pat the Bunny, the 16yr old rolls his eyes some more so when I saw this it was too hilarious to pass up.

In a recent review of the film "Stake Land," Roger Ebert notes:

"Zombies are a great convenience. They provide villains who are colorful and frightening, require no dialogue, motivation or explanation, and yet function efficiently as a negation of all that is good. Just the very word "zombie" can persuade people to buy tickets for a movie, and "sex" hasn't done that in years."

Ebert, in short, is intimately familiar with the vast sprawling subculture of zombie-land, and that is maybe one prerequisite for enjoying "Pat the Zombie" in the full richness of its zombie-land tropes.

The other prerequisite, of course, is to be one of the millions of parents who offered soft bunny fur, daddy's scratchy face, and other tactile treats in "Pat the Bunny" to their children at bed time. Or had that experience offered as one sat on a parent's lap, all those years ago.

As someone who qualifies on both counts - I have, contrary to my own expectations of myself as a mature adult, watched "Shaun of the Dead" several times - I found this "cruel spoof," as indeed it is, remarkably well done, well-written and well-drawn, a faithful recreation of the original mindless narrative but in the world of tasty brains and walkabouts of the undead.

The finesse with which this fun excursion splices the dark neighborhood overrun by a rising tide of zombies with memories of the original bunny book is like one of those cool moves in "Kill Bill," beautifully conceived but appreciated even more if you like the movies Tarentino loved. The expression OMG! did escape my lips a couple of times, but that's the point. This book does exactly what it intends.

I love this book but can never show it to my kid, EVer!
If you have read the original and have a sense of humor and pulse, you will like this novelty.

Got this as a present for my grown daughter who a) likes zombie stuff and b) liked Pat the Bunny as a child. This book provided many laughs.

Dorothy Kunhardt's 1940 book, Pat the Bunny, is likely one of the first books bought and read to babies. I had my own bedraggled Pat the Bunny book when I was little (that fake fur got really nasty over time). And with my own little ones, I remember guiding tiny hands to touch the soft fuzzy bunny. That's why I knew I had to get this ridiculous book for my now-19 year old son. You know...special memories.

This book, Pat the Zombie, is an obvious parody of that popular book for babies -- and not just as it relates to the book's title. Nope, it even includes the little girl and boy, Judy and Paul, from that original book. But in this new creepy rendition, Judy doesn't just pat the bunny. On the usual page-spread with the fuzzy bunny, the words say, "Judy can gut the zombie. Now YOU can gut the zombie" (and the gory, gutted zombie is the fuzzy bunny). Another example is based on the page from the baby book where Paul (and YOU) can put fingers through Mommy's ring. Well, in this new book, the words are, "Paul can put his finger through Mummy's skull. Now YOU can put your finger through Mummy's skull." And, yes, you can. There are also putrefying faces to feel.

The quality of this book isn't that great, but that's not really why I bought it. It's gory, disgusting, and sick...and, therefore, the perfect silly gift for any fellow zombie enthusiasts who also grew up with this beloved baby book. This version is most definitely NOT for babies.

Didn't give it 5 stars only because I think spending more than $5 on a "fun" gift that will probably not be "touched" again is expensive. It did get a lot of attention at gift opening time.

I love the book, just the quality of the materials was pretty disappointing. It was about the same quality as card stock. Book overall was very cute and a good throw back to my childhood with a zombie twist.

Our church group just loves this story. We find it an especially calming story for the youngers trying to understand the Ryan Budget plan. Ahhh now YOU can feel daddy's putrefying patriarchal face...isn't that nice.

I love this! I used to work in a bookstore, we sold hundreds of "Pat the Bunny". When I saw this I had to have it! But, don't give it to a young child, this is sick!
