5.0 out of 5 stars Marc Shaiman at his best
The score tracks on this CD are among the most played of any of Shaiman's music that I have, right next to American President. Piano and woodwind solos fill the score with emotion, backed up by sweeping orchestrations, this score is one of the most heartwarming and uplifting CD's I own. I can't say much for the songs, I never really listen to the pop music on film...

The music in this movie is fantastic...and the missing song after "only you know and I know" is "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison. Hope this helps!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Piano,Violin,and Flute Music!, August 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Patch Adams (1998 Film) (Audio CD)
I really like the instrumental part of the soundtrack. I am not sure about the other parts of the soundtrack.(check the review at the bottom of mine's if you are interested in the actual song of the movie. If you like the instrumental part of the soundtrack ,this review is for you. If you like soft and depressing music this soundtrack this is a good soundtrack for you. It is kind of like James Horner and Randy Edelman's music. (James Horner did Glory,Casper,Titanic,Aliens, and many more orastra sundtracks)(Randy Edelman did (Gettysburg,Daylight,DragonHeart, and other orcastra soundtracks too) I think it is a must buy.

...and to get inspired. I liked the songs but specially, "Faith of the Heart" (Rod Stewart's voice comes from his heart) a song I feel can really touch you. I also like the song "Look behond the fingers" and the other songs after that one. These type of music is excellent for people who like to study, read or write while listening to music. This is a very neat CD.

Part of what made this movie so enjoyable was the soundtrack. Great songs from the period including Dave Mason, The Rascals, and others. Enjoy!

What an outstanding performance by Robin Williams etal. A wonder-filled story about goodness in the medical profession which is a unique point of view --- since laughter heals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Original Score by Marc Shaiman, September 25, 2006

Marc Shaiman is a composer that is usually hired to do comedies. He's said himself, though, that he loves to compose for movies that are dramatic, that will let him write beautiful music. This film provided him a chance to do just that. The theme for this film is innocent, melodic, and inspiring. The songs on the CD I could do without, but the original score composed for the film is fantastic. My only gripe with this score is that it gets a little repetitive, as the theme is heard in almost every track of orchestra music. That said, it is performed differently in all those tracks, and given a particularly grand performance in the last track. Great music from a great composer (if you like beautiful themes). If you like this music, consider getting The American President, too.

4.0 out of 5 stars There`s a song missing, October 4, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Patch Adams (1998 Film) (Audio CD)
On the movie, there`s a song I`ve been trying to find and it`s not on the cd. It was played right after "only you and I know" and the first words were "we were born before the wind" I would really like to know the title and artist.

This CD is fabulous, so relaxing, so peaceful. Faith of the Heart is especially beautiful and used by my daughter who battled brain cancer ... The main title on tracks 10-18, put your head set on and turn up the volume. Beautiful.
