5.0 out of 5 stars love this movie
These are two great movies. What dreams may come is a little out there, but still worth watching. Love the twist they put on heaven, just hope mine isn't like that. :)

"What Dreams May Come" (1998) for most of its length is a downer. Be prepared for some melancholy stuff. There are at least two Robin Williams personas; one is the comic, another is the tear-jerker sentimentalist. We certainly don't get the comic in this one. It's OK. Not one of Robin Williams' best, and not one of the best of the tearjerker variety. But it was packaged with a copy of "Patch Adams" which I have yet to view.

Both movies are great but "What Dreams May Come" is my all time favorite. It gives new perspective to the love of family and it is so beautiful!

4.0 out of 5 stars Once again a well-played and poignant role..., August 18, 2008

As usual, Robin Williams shows us what being 'connected' to life is about...being unafraid to reach out and share those times of joy and laughter, grief and sorrow, and the full range of all things in between.

Cast performances were well balanced and thoughtful. Again, giving the viewer a gentle reminder of the true meaning of humanity.

These videos have only 2 things in common, they have Robin Williams in them and are about freedom.

"Patch Adams" is comedy of how a remarkable doctor got his start. Some toilet humor and a fair amount of sexual innuendo. Freaking hilarious though!

"What Dreams May Come" is an interesting investigation of one theory on the afterlife. It has a couple humorous parts, but don't expect a comedy. This is a serious movie. Anyone who is unwilling to consider alternative theories of the afterlife should probably skip this one. It also has some strong content involving depression, suicide, and hell. All in all, an excellent movie.

3.0 out of 5 stars "You're in Heaven", July 30, 2009
This review is from: Patch Adams / What Dreams May Come Double Feature (DVD)
"What Dreams May Come" (1998) for most of its length is a downer. Be prepared for some melancholy stuff. There are at least two Robin Williams personas; one is the comic, another is the tear-jerker sentimentalist. We certainly don't get the comic in this one. Robin, a doctor, loses his two children in an automobile accident. He was able to endure the grieving process and go on with his life, but his wife was not. They were soul mates. From their first meeting theirs was a magic love affair. But from the start viewers had the feeling that they, the couple, and yes, the viewers were going to have bad luck. The morning his two children took off on the fateful trip, we had the feeling tragedy was impending.
Then Robin gets killed in an automobile accident, and he goes to Heaven. It's a beautiful place with impressionistic paints and colors that are spectacular. They are visualizations of his wife's work. The movie has really stunning special effects with surreal scenes that make you feel as if paintings have come to life. We see a ghastly and distressing Hell that may shake you up. I saw this in Blue-ray which added to the experience.
In Heaven Robin is given two guides at different times, one Cuba Gooding, Jr. and the other played by Rosalind Chao. His wife is distraught over first the death of the children and then her husband.
The trouble is that the two children are perfect, and Robin, against all odds seeks to do the impossible while in Heaven. As viewers our journey through the glorious world of special effects is memorable, but somehow we may have the feeling we've been taken and we've undergone some manipulation. The movie is spiritual without being religious. If you've seen this movie once, I don't think you'll want to return to it.
I'll be reviewing "Patch Adams" shortly.

My sister had requested DVDs of Patch Adams & What Dreams May Come (she loves Robin Williams). I had looked around locally for it & then tried Amazon. Ordered it online & she was trilled. It was a great price too. So I made my sister very happy & it really didn't cost me much money or effort. Thank you
