This cable is not a deal. No matter what you pay for it, it's still not worth it. Sure, it came in 2 days. Amazon Prime rocks - everybody know that. But the cable is garbage.
- it's not copper
- strands are not twisted
- each strand is thin - maybe four or five thin aluminum conductors
- all the coating is thin and brittle
- no way it's Cat5e - see here: [...]

So I ran this cable through the house. It's 100ft long, and that's why I bought it - I needed to run the cable about 60ft. But the signal was just not coming through. After reading the reviews, I decided I've got little to lose by cutting the cable so it's only 60 ft long, thinking it would work then. What I found inside answered all my questions. The cables are not color coded in line with standard Cat5, they are not twisted in pairs, and the strands are not composed of copper conductors. In other words, you are NOT getting Cat5e. Not even Cat5. Actually, not even a network cable at all, since it does not conform to the basic requirements of the category.

So now I'll be pulling another cable under the floor, and through the walls, and ... You get the picture. This whole purchase was just a total waste, and I do not wish this on anyone else. So buyer beware.

The construction of this wire is below average. The jacketing is smaller than typical around the wires. The wires are not twisted inside the jacketing. The wires are not standard cat5e colors of solid and striped wires(who cares unless you are cutting and splicing a new plug). This type of wire construction is designed for short patch runs from the wall to a PC of only a few feet. I don't know why they used stranded wire for this long of a cable. I would recommend using a solid twisted Cat5e cable for a 100ft run. I found the Mediabridge wires on amazon to be similarly priced and of better construction than this wire.

After clipping the end it is apparent that there are no twisted pairs. The jacket is also a tad thin. For the serious installer, be cautious!

These cables are not Cat 5e. They are labelled that they are IEEE568B compliant but the color coding is not correct. Cables are way too thin in the jacket to possibly be 24 AWG copper UTP. Will not handle 1Gbps signaling.

This wire is not Cat5e so why advertise it as such? it even says "even up to 1000BASET" in the description, when clearly the cable is not Cat5e and only holds a 100BASET connection. This cable will not allow gigabit speeds. Waste of money.

I know this is just a simple CAT5 cable, but when I got it home, ran it from my router to my studio space just outside my house, I was surprised to see just how flimsy the cable was. With barely any pull, the plastic coating and the internal wires on the cable broke in half. I'll be returning this item today.

I wish I would have read the other reviews on this before I purchased. I had no familiarity with the normal construction of Cat5e cabling until I purchased this and tried to run it to a wall jack. My plan was to leave one end intact to connect to my wireless router and then run the cable to the other side of my house to my office. I was going to run the office end into a wall jack so I had to cut the wire to try to marry up the internal wires to the wall jack connection points. The normal Cat5e internal wiring involves 8 separate wires whose sheaths are generally four main colors: blue, orange, green, and brown and each of those solids is paired as such: blue/blue-white, orange/orange-white, green/green-white, and brown/brown-white. This cable has eight unique colors, which, of course, doesn't match up with actual Cat5e color-coded wires. If you just need a long, cheap ethernet cable, this may work for you but if you need to cut a wire to connect it to a jack or add a connector to go into a jack or a pc or something like that, try to find something other than this garbage. Thank heaven it was under $8 but the crappy thing about that is that it's not even worth returning b/c shipping would cost me that much. Not happy with that and the fact that I now have to crawl back under the house to run another cable.

This product is simple, so I'll keep the review simple. It works well, but the clips on the ends are very fragile. One clip broke off two days after opening package, but it still works, so it's all good. I would recommend this product if you don't switch what it's being plugged into too often.
