Anything is possible in PatchLand. Little Preston and his dog Beau are challenged by the eye patches they have to wear because of an eye disease, but that does not stop them from doing what they love. At night, Preston puts his eye patch under his pillow. When he starts to dream, he and his dog Beau get to go to PatchLand. Everyone including the animals wear eye patches in PatchLand. They live in a world of fun and adventure and imagination. The Illustrations are spectacular and help the story come to life. When young readers join Preston and Beau on their fun-filled adventures, they will feel like they are there with them, cheering them on as they overcome their vision challenges.

About the Author
Author- Carmen Swick lives in Colorado with her family and enjoys the outdoors and many activities that Colorado has to offer. She volunteers as President of the Denver Chapter a non-profit organization Foundation Fighting Blindness. For the past 4 years she has been the Chair for the Blind Taste of the Rockies, and in 2012, the Chair for the Denver Vision Walk. Carmen also participates in the Race for the Cure as team captain

Patchland Adventures is an adorable book. I think everyone can relate to Preston's story in some way or another. The book is enjoyable to read and to share. I'd love to see more adventures with Preston and beau. I highly recommend this book.

Do you have a child or know someone with lazy eye? The medical term for lazy eye is amblyopia. Amblyopia is the leading cause of blindness in children. A child or person with amblyopia experience blurred vision in the affected eye and if left untreated this is what causes blindness.
If you are looking for a good resource to help a child cope with lazy eye, you must read Carmen Swick's book, Patch Land Adventures, Fishing with Grandpa. The author's son suffers from amblyopia. She wrote the book to help inspire and educate others about the condition.

This book is so well illustrated! There is just the right amount of information about his eye condition and it really made patch time something fun and exciting and even special! After all not every child "gets" to patch! My son slept with his patch under his pillow after we read this book hoping that he would visit Patchland also!

My kid likes it, but I can't stand reading this book!
My 2.5 year old has to wear an eye patch for his amblyopia, and all the other kids-with-patches books on the market are about little girls, so I bought him this book. Read more
