Patchwork and quilting does not only focus on making bed quilts, in fact the boundaries in quilting are expanding, which means there is something for everyone in this fascinating and fulfilling hobby. This book is an excellent source of ideas and designs with a range of colourful projects and stunning illustrations showcasing the modern and the traditional use of fabrics in a home setting. This is excellent value for money, featuring 42 projects in glorious colour, and it is sure to spark your imagination.-Fabrications

There are some really nice patchwork patterns here. A few include some applique. I like the layout with specifications, materials lists, cutting instructions, etc. all nicely arranged with color charts of the whole piece in addition to color photos. I was unfamiliar with the "foot warmer" size that fits across the foot of a bed or can double as a shawl. Neat idea. Some pillow shams are included too.

Warning: Instructions for finishing are 1/3 page at the back of the book. Quilting instructions are: "Quilt as desired by hand or machine." I would need a second book to help with the finishing. Some of the photos show quilting, but only a few are shown with traditional patterned quilting. More show machine quilting in an all over pattern of either straight or curved lines. In some cases this does not do justice to the handsome patchwork. Many pieces are photographed without any visible quilting or tying.
