Great value...., August 16, 2010
This review is from: Patent Bar Exam: The Ultimate Patent Bar Exam Study Guide / Review Course (eBook PDF Delivery)
I studied approximately 80 hours for the Patent Bar and passed with flying colors. When I first started studying I knew absolutely nothing about the USPTO procedures. I didn't even know what a Provisional Application was. This book won't teach you everything you need to know to pass, but it gives you great understanding of the fundamentals. I read the book twice, then started taking the old exams over and over until I could pass most of them with at least 90% correct. One thing most of the other $500+ study packages don't mention is that there are MANY repeats on the actual exam. Most people, from my knowledge, see about 30 or 40 of the same questions from old exams, or variations thereof. I saw about 35 on mine. Read this book, use the old exams to learn through osmosis, and you should pass. I would recommend this book to anyone taking the exam.

Respectable value, but insufficient and not polished, October 23, 2009
This review is from: Patent Bar Exam: The Ultimate Patent Bar Exam Study Guide / Review Course (eBook PDF Delivery)
For of all, the practice exams that you're getting are all public domain information. It is widely held that these practice exams are very important, but you can download them online for free on the USPTO website, and other third-party patent bar study sites, whether you bought this guide or not. Of course, getting it from this guide (they send you a link to a website with to download the exams) might save you a few minutes of Google-ing the same content.
I'd also like to point out that some of the reviews here are of dubious merit to anyone who's looked at this guide and compared it with others. One reviewer admitted in a comment that he or she got a coupon on the item for writing a review, so that might explain the dubious reviews. I never got offered this coupon, probably because I bought it from Amazon.
As for the quality of the content, I would say that it's not very thorough in that it has a lot of content holes. The most important topics are covered, but in my opinion, this thing should have more breadth, and a little more depth. It claims that the guide contains all you need to pass the exam. The patent bar is an open-book exam, so this could possibly be true if you have extremely good search skills, but there simply is not enough coverage in this guide to allow a reasonably good attempt for most people. If the length were increased by 60-70%, then I'd think that would be more acceptable. The interesting thing about the coverage of topics is that some relatively minor topics are repeatedly emphasized in the analysis of the USPTO rules, while other important topics aren't mentioned. My guess is that this guide was written based on a limited scope of actual experience with the exam. Finally, this guide has some proofreading problems.
From another perspective, it's of decent value, and that's something you don't get very often. One last thing I'd like to mention is that the pdf file you get has a restriction to printing only at 150dpi.

Great value for the money!, October 26, 2009
This review is from: Patent Bar Exam: The Ultimate Patent Bar Exam Study Guide / Review Course (eBook PDF Delivery)
I purchased a couple other study guides on eBay for the patent bar exam and they not only cost more than this guide, but they were by far inferior in terms of content and number of questions provided. Others reviewers are correct in that most of the questions provided in this exam are located elsewhere, but what those reviews fail to state is that this is the only guide (as far as I know) that identifies which questions are actually repeated on current administrations of the exam. This guide comes with an extensive amount of questions and more importantly tells you which ones are repeated on current administrations of the exam. This is what is unique about this guide and in my opinion is what makes this guide an excellent value. In addition, it provides a section called "Recently Tested Topics" that you will not find anywhere else.
Also, the guide is updated often. The first time I accessed the guide via the links provided I did notice some typos (mostly minor). The most recent version, however, was well written and included several addition recently tested topics. I assume that the neutral comments about this guide were based on prior versions of the guide. I thought the guide was well worth the money, especially compared to the other guides that I have purchased.
Overall a great value for the money!
