I just got this CD and I'm absolutely dazzled by it! The overture is one of the BEST overtures I've ever heard! The song FRiends, The Best of is one of the most gorgeous pieces of music I have ever heard. How Far is Too Far is also beautiful. Little Fat Girls is heartbreakingly beautiful. WHoever orchestrated those songs is a GENUIS!BUY IT!

This show is really cute. Most people say that anyone who went to Catholic school will love it, but I'm not even Catholic and I still understood the humor. I am glad that my friends were in a production of this musical, so that I was introduced to it. The story follows a group of children, mainly Eddie and Becky, through Catholic school, starting with their first day of school and continuing through high school and beyond graduation. This recording is done well. At first it was disturbing that adults play their characters from age 5 at the beginning to adulthood at the end of the play. Once one accepts that, the recording is very enjoyable. The voices sound great, with the exception of a few spots in group numbers. The show's run on Broadway was extremely brief, which is something that I never understood. The story and the music are strong, there is really no reason that the show shouldn't have done well. C'est la vie. Anyone would enjoy this CD. There are ballads, uptempos, and there are several different musical styles explored between the songs. Anyone who enjoys musical theatre soundtracks would like this one.
