Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Whether through the death of a loved one, divorce, or estrangement in a marriage, or by being a single person in a world of couples and families, loneliness eventually comes to us all. It is well known that beloved author Elisabeth Elliot lost her first husband to murder in the South American jungle. Perhaps not as well known, she lost her second to the ravages of cancer. She has felt the deep pain of loss, just like you.

In The Path of Loneliness, Elliot gives hope to the lonely through tender reflections on God's love for us and his plans to bless us. Here you will find honesty and compassion, not platitudes. She tackles this difficult topic with grace and faith, showing you how to make peace with loneliness, however it has come about, and how to grow through it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relevant for EVERYONE December 5, 2006
Format:Paperback
Don't be shyed away by the inclusion of the word "Loneliness" in the title of this book. The treasures in it are relevant to every human, because anyone who has ever lived has experienced some type of pain and has experienced the state of being alone, if even temporarily. Anyone with a mind and a heart that feels will find this profound writing to be very intelligently written. You don't even need to be a Christian to appreciate the commonality of the human condition as expressed in this book. ***Simply stated, it is poetic, thoughtful, biting with truth, real, compassionate.***

5.0 out of 5 stars The Path of Loneliness November 8, 2007
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Elisabeth Elliot will always be one of the most important Christian writers of all time. Everyone should read The Path of Loneliness. It sheds light on so much in our lives and how much deeper God would use our circumstances to transform us into His Son. How do we offer up the sacrifice of our trials & heartaches? What does Paul mean to fill up the afflictions of Christ? Our obedience to the things from God that we would rather not do or go through has such spiritual value to be obeyed; not just for me, but for the body of Christ as a whole.
