More About the Author

Richard Matheson was born in 1926. He began publishing SF with his short story 'Born of Man and Woman' in 1950. I Am Legend was published in 1954 and subsequently filmed as The Omega Man (in 1971), starring Charlton Heston, and I Am Legend (in 2007), starring Will Smith. Matheson wrote the script for the film The Incredible Shrinking Man, an adaptation of his second SF novel The Shrinking Man. The film won a Hugo award in 1958. He wrote many screenplays as well as episodes of The Twilight Zone. He continued to write short stories and novels, some of which formed the basis for film scripts, including Duel, directed by Steven Spielberg in 1971. A film of his novel What Dreams May Come was released in 1998, starring Robin Williams. Stephen King has cited Richard Matheson as a creative influence on his work.

5.0 out of 5 stars The book can be read daily as a guide to life., September 1, 1999
By A Customer
The Path was given to me as a gift, and that it truly was. The book is a dedication to Percival's "Thinking and Destiny," but is written in a concise, clear and engaging manner. The author addresses the questions we ask ourselves on a daily basis: What is the purpose of life? How do I achieve my destiny? How do I come to accept the inadequacies of the human being? The book encompasses Mr. Matheson's thoughts and views on metaphysics in a simple way. I recommend the book for anyone who enjoys discussion of metaphysics, spirituality and humanity.

Richard Matheson is one of the most extraordinary authors of the 20th and 21st century and "The Path" is yet another example of this. His ability to express complicated thoughts and emotions in clear and concise language is legendary.

His work seen in his novels "Somewhere in Time" and "What Dreams may Come" as well as his long list of publications and screenplays throughout the years exemplifies his exceptional talent.
