This book is such a great source of strength and comfort. The idea that we, as women, can draw courage and inspiration from the pearl. To think that such a beautiful gem -- a pearl -- comes out of injury and stress to the oyster reminds us all that we have inside of us what it takes to create pearls of our own. To absorb the struggles that life throws us and emerge stronger, and more lustrous than before. I'm on the way to becoming a strong and shiny pearl!

Path of the Pearl came as such a relief to me after the glut of self-help books which focus exclusively on what each of us has done wrong in our lives to deserve our latest obstacle. Instead, Kelly begins with the premise that, as the oyster can threaten its own life by inadvertently trapping detritus through the necessary acts of breathing and eating, so do humans suffer at times during the natural process of living. Using the metaphor of the oyster which, as a way of avoiding further suffering or death, surrounds the intrusion with layers of healing pearl nacre, Kelly describes ways for us to transform life's injuries into beautiful pearls to be cherished or discarded as we see fit. A fitting metaphor for today's troubled times, and a much needed balm for our already guilt-ridden souls. Thank you for the Path of the Pearl!

I feel so fortunate that a friend of mine gave me the ?PATH OF THE PEARL? written by Mary Olsen Kelly at this time in my life. Over the years, many difficult and painful things happen that cannot be explained, but such events always channel me into a new path in life. After reading ?PATH OF THE PEARL? I feel and sense a new perspective on how to handle many of life?s challenges. Instead of looking at these challenges as a curse, I now see how I , just as as an oyster can take them and make them into something precious, gorgeous, a gem. As I now look back, most of the difficult times in my life have made me who I am today, strong and beautiful. Thanks for that perspective.

The Path of the Pearl is a wonderful book, inspiring, and beautifully written. I found myself mesmerized by Mary Olsen Kelly's ability to weave the pearl and our lives into one. It has many of life's lessons it it, as does the pearl. It is a book that I will have to buy copies of to gift to friends who are on their own path to continue to spiral upward. Thank you Mary Olsen Kelly for sharing your wisdom!

This is a very down-to-earth and helpful book. The author asks great questions to help the reader identify strengths and where they're blocked. I have a better sense now of how to achieve my goals. Practical... but inspiring, too!

I've loved pearls for their symbolism, and have given many gifts of pearls to friends and family. As the author discusses beautifully, pearls are a glowing metaphor for life, struggle and hope. The book is very well written, the self-questions provide a helpful tool, and it's packed with all kinds of interesting facts/information about pearls of all kinds. The only reason I'm not giving five stars to this book is because there are a few places where a mystical or new-agey emphasis seemed to snag the otherwise smooth flow. They're in the form of poetry or fairy tales within the text, and at least once I wasn't sure how the section fit in to the rest of the chapter. Nevertheless, it's an excellent book worthy of gift-giving. I bought another copy, in fact, to give as a gift.

Path of the Pearl is a spiritual journey using the oyster and pearl as a metaphor for the nature of lifes highs and lows. Although we want to resist our hard times - most people can look back and see that they led to our greatest treasures. Mary's positive look at life's journey is truly uplifting and inspiring!

In my knowing, our surrender into whatever life offers up is a quality that moves each of us forward into a peaceful & profound experience of being a Spiritual Being temporarily having a vivid experience of being in a body. Mary is a way-shower through this book and her life of how to allow life to be a teacher and our "Treasure Within".
