More About the Author

If you look at my bibliography, it's mostly game materials there. That's because I'm a big geek. I'm proud of that. I've wanted to write fantasy (both fiction and games) since I was ten years old, and now I've done both professionally.

I've written some things that have done pretty well: I was a designer on the CRPG "Planescape: Torment", which position I got because of my work on the actual tabletop "Planescape" campaign setting. I was also a co-creator of the "Birthright" campaign setting, and won an award for the mega-adventure "Dragon Mountain."

It turns out that I've moved around a lot: from Illinois to Utah to Illinois again to Wisconsin to California to Michigan, with a smattering of international travel in between: France, Spain, Corsica, Costa Rica, Jamaica, and the real exotics - Canada and Mexico. What unites everyone - EVERYONE - is the desire for a good story. I hope to tell you one.

I liked Faiths of Balance, but I expected more info on and for Druids PCs. However, after seeing what they can do for Clerics, I would love to see an expansion just for Druids!

There's just not enough content in this companion.
It wouldn't be that horrible if it was all playable content, but that is not the case.
Most of the content is flavor for the different religions and not really much of that either.

I ordered this online without seeing the content first hand after hearing about a feat in the book.
I figured i would illustrate to the other internet buyers what you will actually get with the purchase.

What you get overview:
- 32 total pages (some decent art)
- 2 page flavor write up for each of these deities: abadar, calistria, gorum, gozreh, irori, nethys, pharasma, and the green faith (not a deity).
- 2 page write up of minor deities like alseta and groetus.
- 2 page write up of religious organizations like the companies of the red standard and the voices of the spire

Flavor overview:
The flavor of each deity goes over the types of adventurers and classes, goals, holy identifiers, how to show devotion, taboos, and the church. Each item has 1 or 2 paragraphs.

Crunch (playable content) overview:
- 2 traits for each deity
- 6 feats spread around the deities (3/4 of a page)
- 1 page of channel foci items
- 2 pages of deity specific magic items
- 1 spell per deity (they aren't really good and 2 pages)

My personal note to the people at pathfinder:
Please try to give your customers something better.
You are instilling lack of confidence in the quality of your products and killing your brand.
I used to look at the wall of pathfinder books at my game shop with excitement.
Now when i look at the wall the only thing that goes through my head is that its too risky to buy the book since there's a good chance i'll be ripped off.

You could have at least bundled all 3 faiths companions together for $10-15 bucks and the customer wouldn't feel like he/she was cheated.
