Format: Paperback
Kagur barely survived the bloody betrayal of her adopted brother Eovath: he murdered her entire clan, supposedly in the service of a dark god. Now she is out to avenge their murders. With the aid of Holg, a shaman from a different clan who healed her after Eovath nearly killed her, Kagur follows Eovath's trail into the Darklands, to the rumor of a place where the sun shines in the deep and where Eovath is gathering an army to wipe out the remaining humans of the region. Through the long, perilous journey and the danger that waits at the end, Kagur's fury and hatred is all she has to fuel her, but is it enough? Will she get the revenge she desires?

Richard Lee Byers has added an excellent new story to the “Pathfinder Tales” library. “Called to Darkness” is a good-old fashioned tale of revenge, and fans of the Pathfinder RPG and general fantasy alike will enjoy it. The story is well-written, the characters surprisingly detailed for such a relatively short novel, and the world fascinating and easy to immerse oneself in, even for readers who know nothing about the Pathfinder RPG and who have not read previous stories from this series.

i was pleasantly surprised to enjoy this book so much. it starts off with a bang and continues throughout. it has a nice dungeon crawl and assorted foes to deal with it. a great light escapist fare that does not disappoint. i found it very captivating and hard to put down. a nice read to pick up in the afternoon and enjoy.
