5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome quick path review, April 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pathology: The Big Picture (LANGE The Big Picture) (Paperback)
This is a great to-the-point review book. It was written from powerpoints used for USMLE review by the author at Texas. The students at his school score very high on USMLE, so take that for what it's worth. This book excels at pointing out visual features of diseases. Other review books often just state "asteroid bodies" (for example). But unless you have an awesome memory, you need to see the picture. This is a great review book that is often overlooked.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic book, November 9, 2010
This review is from: Pathology: The Big Picture (LANGE The Big Picture) (Paperback)
This pathology review book is head and shoulders above other basic pathology review books.
The material is extremely well-organized and comprehensive, yet streamlined to exclude
unnecessary cluttering information (unlike a previous reviewer, I believe treatment information
is appropriately beyond the scope of this pathology review book).
Not only is the information extremely well presented, but it is accompanied
by fantastic gross and microscopic photographs not seen in run-of-the-mill quickie
outline reviews. This book is terrific - if I could give it
6 stars I would!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, April 21, 2010
This review is from: Pathology: The Big Picture (LANGE The Big Picture) (Paperback)
I'm writing this review as a medical student. I would be comparing this book to the other high yield path books out there: BRS pathology, and rapid review pathology (goljan). This book is great, clear sentences and descriptions, great pictures, high yield facts. Some cons: no treatment indications. The one great thing about the rapid review path is that it always includes a few sentences about how the disease is treated thus giving you more of a whole picture of the disease, which is what these books ought to do since they are not aimed at providing deep reviews of each disease but rather a comprehensive review. However stylistically I understood the disease process better in this book since the sentences are not just bullet points. It has a good format now, but could use some more charts and diagrams and most importantly treatments. There's still room for improvement.
