5.0 out of 5 stars Promising, November 14, 2004
This review is from: The Patience EP (Audio CD)
My tastes usually go more toward the heavier punk and rock, but my friends were so enthusiastic about this guy and his live show that I picked this up and gave it a try. My only complaint about this EP is that I want more of it. Adam Richman is a great lyricist and songwriter. I rarely listen to or care much about lyrics but his really get me and I remember them and get them stuck in my head long after I've finished listening to this. He has a great voice and the arrangements are simple enough to show it off. Mostly acoustic guitar here, with the occaisional bass, drum or keyboard thrown in but it's all tasteful; so often this style of music is overproduced and the original intent and feeling goes out the window. The most complex, produced track "Baby I've Changed" has electric guitars and live drums, and maintains a pleasantly organic sound. Hard to make comparisons within this style of music, but I'd say this reminds me of Reggie and the Full Effect or the Get-Up Kids. Can't wait to see him live and hear the full-length.

4.0 out of 5 stars LP coming out soon, November 1, 2004
This review is from: The Patience EP (Audio CD)
The LP from this guy is coming out soon. As I learned from seeing him live a few times, he can really get a response from the crowd. I've seen him do two solo acoustic sets, which both were brief, so when I then heard the album I knew it was pretty true to his live sets. He tends not to write very long ones, and they're perfect for that type of atmosphere, so you probably catch my drift, and even if you don't, sample some tracks or just go out and buy the EP. I've seen it for less than 10 bucks at a lot of places.

4.0 out of 5 stars Adam Richman = Love, December 23, 2004
This review is from: The Patience EP (Audio CD)
I discovered Adam about eight months ago when he came to my college and performed acoustically. I immediately fell in love with his catchy beats and lyrics. Let me tell you, the boy can write. I immediately bought his first LP "Two" and his newer one "Patience and Science". However, "Patience and Science" is not as available as it used to be because he was signed to a record label, and they're going to re-release it. I think his ability to create catchy songs with meaningful lyrics is rare, especially in our pop culture. He came back to my college again this past October, and I bought this EP to hear some of his new stuff. I love it. Some of the old songs sound different, but the lyrics are the same. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I love the two LPs I have. And I want more. I cannot wait until his album comes out in the spring. I recommend all of his music because honestly? You cannot label it. His first album was definitely more acoustic and mellow. His second/this one is a little more polished and pop rock sounding, but amazing nonetheless.

4.0 out of 5 stars not so much emo as power pop, November 28, 2004
This review is from: The Patience EP (Audio CD)
As a very big fan of emo bands like Dashboard Confessional, The New Amsterdams, and The Straylight Run I was told to check out this EP. Given the goodness of the mp3s on his myspace page and the cheapness of this EP, I decided to give it a whirl. I liked this EP a lot but I was shocked at how it was more of just a great power pop record in the same verge as a later Husker Du or Buzzcocks or even Val Emmich! Adam's voice reminds of Matt Pryor from TGUK/New Amsterdams but the similarities end there. What we have on our hands is a bit of a boy genius. I'd have to see him live with a band before I can really know for sure. But this EP hints on great things to come! Check out "Broken Glass", it's my current mix tape champion.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing!!!!, December 25, 2005
This review is from: The Patience EP (Audio CD)
I had never ever heard of Adam Richman before my friend bought this record at a used CD store. We put it in and I automatically fell in love with the first song "Baby I've changed". I later copied the entire CD from her. Every single song is good on this CD! The first three songs are more up beat and have more influence of rock in them... while the last two are more mellow. I have these songs on repeat from the second i wake up to the second i go to bed. Adam Richman is an AWESOME artist! I'm really glad I found out about him. He is gonna be really big
